Packers return man Amari Rodgers has a fumbling problem, and the Packers’ coaching staff seems ready to make a change.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed today that the Packers are re-evaluating whether Rodgers should continue as their punt returner. LaFleur did not say who will return punts Thursday night against the Titans.

Special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia said he likes what Rodgers can do, but the fumbles are unacceptable.

Rodgers has fumbled four times on returns this season, including a fumble that set up a Cowboys touchdown on Sunday. After Rodgers’ fumble, Keisean Nixon returned punts for the rest of the game.

  1. Amari isn’t offering much on offense either. My guess is he will be let go after the season is over.

  2. LaFleur needs to think about a new return man?

Rodgers leads the NFL in fumbled returns.

For return men with more than 10 returns this season, Rodgers is tied with 2 other players for 22nd in average return yards.

Just what does Bisaccia like about Rodgers return skills?

  3. Doesn’t get return yards, fumbles WAY too much, and offers little to no value as a wide receiver. That’s what I would call a totally wasted third round draft pick.

  4. 7 fumbles on returns since he came into the league. Many of which were straight up muffs. Indecisiveness leading to punts flying over his head and getting downed within the 5 yard line on a weekly basis. No situational awareness. He checks all of the “Red Flag” boxes when considering a returner. The fact that it took coaches over a year and a half to figure this out … Is shocking. I saw Nixon grab a ball over his head on a punt return Sunday and caught it cleaner than I’ve ever seen someone catch a ball. I don’t even know if he was looking at the ball, but THAT is the kind of returner we need.

  5. It’s about 12 games too late. Look this guy can’t even run decoy jet sweeps, is not trusted, has butterfingers and questionable decision-making on punts. Sorry Amari.

Go find another speedy gunner type cuz Rudy Ford earned more snaps.
