Andy Dalton remains Saints’ starting quarterback

The Saints will not be making a coaching change this week.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen said today that Andy Dalton will remain the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Rams. Dalton has started the Saints’ last seven games after Jameis Winston started the first three.

The Saints are on a two-game losing streak and Dalton hasn’t played well in either games, and Winston has been healthy enough that he was active as the No. 2 quarterback, which led to growing questions about why Allen hadn’t gone back to Winston. But Allen said today that Winston is still not 100 percent healthy, even if he’s healthy enough that he could go if he had to.

And so the Saints — who despite their 3-7 record remain in contention in the NFC South — will stick with Dalton for at least one more week.

  1. Start TAYSOM unless the plan is to lose, SMH DA is really bad as a coach and Pete is showing us why Payton called the plays.

  2. Rams just had 2 more offensive linemen go on IR, Kupp is on IR, Stafford not cleared to play. If the Saints can’t win this week, it’s time to fire the coach and hire a friend of the owner.

  3. Hill looked pretty good in the past but that was with Payton coaching and every QB seemed to play well for Payton. Highly doubtful Hill would be able to repeat that now.

  4. Seriously, Dalton is done, why not Hill the rest of the season, he is good to spark the team and win 3 out of 4 like he has done the past few years

  5. Freudian slip in that first sentence?

I like Dalton, but Winston seems to offer a higher ceiling. Maybe the Saints are looking at draft order.

  6. Here come the Taysom Hill stans. He’s 32 years old and has been with the team for over 5 years. They know who he is. He is not an every week starter in this league. In 2021 he had a 42.5 qb rating, with 4 tds and 5 ints in 5 starts.

  7. The head coach is a joke keep playing a crappy QB yea that makes sense looks like he’s a one and done
    your outa here.
