Aaron Rodgers has 16 consecutive games with less than 300 passing yards

For Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 300 yards used to be a pretty normal game. Now it’s an accomplishment he just can’t manage.

After throwing for just 227 yards on 39 attempts in Thursday night’s loss to the Titans, Rodgers has gone 16 consecutive games without reaching 300 passing yards.

Rodgers’ last 300-yard game was in Week 13 of the 2021 season against the Bears. After that he came up short of 300 yards in the final four games of the regular season, in the Packers’ playoff loss to the 49ers, and then in all 11 games this season.

This is the longest streak of consecutive games without 300 yards in Rodgers’ career.

Great quarterbacks just don’t go this long without a 300-yard game in today’s NFL: Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen have each had eight 300-yard passing games since Rodgers last had one.

For that matter, bad quarterbacks don’t usually go this long without a 300-yard game: Davis Mills has had three 300-yard games since Rodgers last had one. Carson Wentz also has three. Joe Flacco has two. Josh Johnson, P.J. Walker and Zach Wilson have all had a 300-yard game more recently than Rodgers.

When the Packers signed Rodgers to his $50 million a year contract extension this offseason, they were expecting him to continue to play at an MVP level. He has actually played at about the level of a quarterback who’s about to get benched.

  1. Never invest in an aging athlete in the hope he can recapture past glory. It’s money wasted.

  2. I’ve been “immunized” for Aaron Rodgers. I’m hoping the Aaron Rodgers virus “just goes away” when the weather warms up in the spring.

  3. If this was Tom Brady it would be headline news about him falling off a cliff. That being said … Aaron to the Patriots in 2023 … this a a current conspiracy theory in Boston.

  4. He has played for the most part completely terrible. But yet goes on every media outlet and rips everyone else on his team including his coach. And yet lefleur is too much of a coward to call him out for his trash. This team is an utter dumpster fire and Rodgers is the most toxic teammate in football.

  5. I know a lot of excuses have been made for Rodgers, from his oline to his receivers. But it’s clear Rodgers is part of the problem. Last night, he was missing wide open receivers that he used to be able to hit with his eyes closed. He took bad sacks and made poor decisions. I honestly don’t know how he declined so rapidly.

  6. He’s no Brett Favre!! He’s the most overrated quarterback to ever play the game bar none!!

  7. I don’t know why all the hate for Rodgers…the guy is a genius

He figured out a way to retire AND get paid 50 million a season at the same time.

  8. Possibly an overrated stat as often yardage racked up in losses. He has averaged an amazing 8.4 YPA attempt for his career and is only 6.9 this year, with no large drop in completion percentage. Can’t get the ball downfield. 1.5 yards per attempt is huge. That’s 40-60 yards a game, easy. Don’t know how much of that is on the receivers and how much on the QB, but that is a stat at which he has excelled throughout his career (and is probably the most important other than avoiding INTs, which are also up).

  9. Weren’t all the media pundits blabbing how GB would be emphasizing its ground game after drafting AJ Dillon? So why is it surprising that AR’s passing stats are not what they once were?

  10. Rogers needs to face reality – he’s just not that good anymore & with his huge contract the team cannot afford top shelf players to help him out.
On top of everything – LeFleur isn’t a good HC so there needs to be wholesale changes starting at the top to make the Packers competitive again.

  11. Sounds to me like the most overrated QB of the last two decades has hit the wall and is winding down.

  12. As he has proven a few times this year, it is not an ability thing. Rodgers can still sling the ball. The problem is his attitude. This dude is a team cancer. Ability-wise he is the best arm talent to ever live. Not even close…. BUT watch him if doesn’t get a call. Watch him if he misses a throw. Watch him if heaven for bid a wide out runs the wrong route. This guy is negative. He has the body language of an adolescent. When the going is great, he is the best… but the first sign of adversity and he is very average to below average. The packers and the NFL will be better when he retires.

  13. Curious if he is one of the “people in this society that have a hard time hearing the truth”.

  14. His team is horrible, worst offensive weapons in the NFL by a long shot. But people cannot wait to hate on him without mentioning his supporting cast.

  15. The dead money on his contract is crushing. There’s no way the Pack can move on for the next 2 seasons even if they wanted to.

  16. This is what happens when your quarterback spends the offseason licking toads to get high.

  17. As a Lions fan, all I have to say is..

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  18. He is playing uninspired football. It’s very easy to see he has no heart to play the game anymore. Playing like he’s about to be benched in the NFL? Actually, he’s playing like your old uncle on Thanksgiving Day in the back yard.

  19. He also leads the NFC in TD’ Passes. Christian Watson has more TD receptions than Justin Jefferson, Stats don’t matter. W’s do.

  20. Most fans know Aaron didn’t deserve MVP last year. Brady had a bigger year. Statistically a fraud that he won, and Tom had more important wins and comebacks last year and pretty sure more yards and TDs. MVP for #12 was like a going away present.

As a Bears fan, I’m pretty sure we have the Packers beat on that one.

  22. Rodgers has declined for sure. He doesn’t look confident. Could be he doesn’t trust offensive line holding up. Play calling isn’t helping either. Lots of bubble screens and dump offs.

    Per PFF, it’s a top 10 OL.

Has little to do with that. That in itself proves it’s more on the QB than the OL or talent around him.

His head has been somehwere else for a long time now. It’s the Brady School of Narcissism.

  25. Owners have got to be furious. Livid, I tell you! They’re probably about to do something major and drastic like fire the GM or clean house …

Keep us updated. They’ll probably do it after he (soon) hits 20 games in a row.

Wait … owners are as powerless as the fanbase!!

    What a dumpster fire.

  26. Since we’re dogpiling on here: The Packers brass paid $50M for the failing QB and sent Davante Adams packing.

Not exactly up for execs of the year.

  28. A couple more losses and they should go to Jordan Love… they act like they have to treat AR12 like a saint in Green Bay … 1. Super Bowl appearance in 15 years is pedestrian!!! Eli had 2 ! Jimmy G has 1

_______________________________________________. He’s averaging 34 passes a game this season, 33 passes in 2022 and 33.45 passes per game over his career. Running the ball more they are not.

  30. There are a lot of parallels between Rogers and BB. Both have declined massively in recent years. Both are merely a shell of their former selves

  31. Keep in mind part of that streak is also while he had Devante Adams as well. Rodgers is beginning to fall off the cliff. He missed wide open throws last night he usually makes with little effort. Packers Defense did their job against Henry. I’ve never seen Rodgers look this mediocre before no way no how. Hell he looks older than Brady does throwing the football.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is what happens when you enable a player/employee to be involved in front-office personnel decisions. Ted Thompson knew better. You won’t find another Fortune-500’ish company run in this manner. Packer front-office management deserves every bit of the criticism. Rodgers should’ve been sent packing at his peak of production. Now, they’re stuck because they let a selfish, lying, privileged fox into the henhouse. Too late now. Good luck with that.

  33. Never invest in an aging athlete in the hope he can recapture past glory. It’s money wasted.

Wish Denver had read this comment about 5 months ago. Smh.

  34. Perhaps they can transfer his compensation load to coaching status and put him on the sidelines. Take away his shoulder pads. Branded.

  35. He was pretty bad last night. Off target consistently. I’m sure it is somebody else’s fault though.

  36. Rodgers is missing some throws but I’m a bit surprised by the rather myopic nature of a lot of these comments. Prior to Watson emerging a bit in the last two weeks, he’s had nobody to throw to. Watch the All 22 of the first 7 weeks of the season and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

He still has plenty of velocity and pocket awareness. I’m sure the thumb injury isn’t helping his accuracy. But otherwise he’s still pretty much the same guy.

Put him on a team with a good o-line and targets that can competently run routes, and he’d be tearing things up again. And I say this as someone who is not a fan of the team or the player.

  37. That’s an incredible stat in today’s game where the “run game” has become part of the pass game. In most offenses the QB can get to ~100 yards just in short passes taking the place of runs. Every week there are guys who hit 250 yards or better in a half.

  38. Rogers should be benched!
Fortunately for him, Jordan Love is too much of a bust to get on the field.

Pack franchise is in serious decline

  39. On the one hand, his O-line has been injured and in flux and his WR options lousy, but on the other hand, he has done little to work with those WRs to improve, accepted the coaches’ play calling or thrown accurately. Seems like everyone is just sick of Rodgers in Green Bay — including the fans, coaches and Rodgers himself. I’m a Viking fan and dislike the Pack, but it is kind of sad to see it apparently end this way. The off-season and next season should be very interesting.

  40. They cannot get the Wrs up to speed in season, when they have to put in a new game plan each week. It is Aaron’s fault because he skipped out of offseason on HIS teammates. Seems like the players are just getting through the season and hoping he quits. Maybe trade him to Denver even up for Rusty. Brady, Rusty and Aaron are all spent comodities. The crackling you hear is Lambeau burning.

  41. Worst Packers offense I’ve seen in my 30 years. Its not even close, really.

But the D is my problem. They can’t stop anyone.

Rodgers could win 20-17 punchless games just like Brady did all those years. The D can’t hold anyone under 20 points. Same problem since 2011.

  42. Rodgers has been awful this season. The only starting QBs with a worse QBR are Russ (LOOK AT ME) Wilson, Kenny Pickett, Davis Mills, and that bust in New England.

  43. Karma at its best with Aron always blaming others, He had how many passes not near his receiver last night only himself to blame.

  44. They could have received a king’s ransom last spring if they would have traded him. Now, they are stuck.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Rodgers has missed receivers over-and-over, time-and-time again. He’s been off for quite awhile. He’s had passes batted down more this year than the last five combined. He can only elude if the pursuer falls down. His receivers “aren’t where they’re supposed to be!” Yeah……and your passes shouldn’t be in the dirt. The heart is the first thing to go. His is gone.

  46. He has no support at the receiver position outside of the rookie who is starting to come on. Most of these guys should be checking your baggage that the airport.

I agree. The O-line is suspect at this point and the lack of first-rate receivers is a huge problem. Imagine Tyreek Hill with the Packers, or anyone that can actually create separation and knows how to help out his QB. Rodgers can still sling it 65 yards so I don’t see an arm issue here.
The D committed to stopping Henry last night, which they did. But it opened up several one on one match ups downfield as a result.

  48. What’s the line on Rodgers passing for I er 300 week to week? If the money is on he will, he won’t. And vise versa.

  49. Is there an award for dollars per passing yard? We know records and awards are most important to him, and he certainly won’t be getting another MVP.

  50. Rodgers is the Packer’s biggest problem. He throws his coach and team mates under the bus for everything that goes wrong. I’m sure that a lot of them find him intimidating, which leads to mistakes on the field and tension in the locker room. They would be better off if he leaves.

  51. I don’t quite get all the griping about the GB offensive line. Rogers was not getting harrassed mercilessly and sacked every other play. Sure, they got to him a couple of times, but the telling thing was how many times Rogers had forever in the pocket, held the ball, and when he did throw it he was off target. That is NOT the Aaron Rogers that has lit up the league for a decade and a half.

  52. He certainly hasn’t been perfect. But Rodgers have never been a big yardage guy (not saying he hasn’t thrown for a lot of yards on occasion). If you’ve watched Packers games relatively objectively it’s quite obvious that the majority of his “falling off” is directly related to the supporting cast. He can still sling it and his throwing hand thumb is freaking broken. Again, he isn’t blameless, but this talk of him falling off some huge cliff is ill placed.

  53. They’re running the ball more. That’s the precise reason he isn’t throwing for as many yards.

This overreaction is making me chuckle. I want the demise of the packers more than anybody but they always put it together. Until they are officially out of playoff contention, they are always in it.

  54. Rodgers is the Packer’s biggest problem.

    Facts not in evidence.

The Packers D has contributed 8 INT’s and 3 Fumble recoveries.

Rodgers has 7 INT’s and 4 fumbles lost.

The Packer D has held opponents to less than 15 points in 4 games (Lions, Jets, Bucs and Bears).

The Rodgers led offense has failed to score 20 points 5 times (Vikings, Bucs, Jets, Bills, Lions, Titans).

Expecting to beat good teams without scoring more than 20 points is foolish. Only scoring 9 points against the Lions (while the defense only gave up 15) explains where the problem is.

Packers are tied with the Bears and the Browns with 23 TD’s this season. 19 of them have been passes and 4 rushing. Rodgers may lead the NFC in passing TD’s, but the reason is obvious – he doesn’t give his two RB’s the opportunity to score very often. The only team with fewer rushing TD’s is the Texans and they are 1 – 7 – 1 this season.

If you can’t put up more than 20 points a game, you can’t expect to win many games.

And there you have the problem with the Green Bay Packers.

Lets not even talk about the run defense, I’ll wind up in the fetal position.

Actually, Rodgers is one of the most prolific big yardage guys to ever play the game.

Rodgers has 77 300+ yard games – that’s has him in 5th place all time behind Brees, Brady, Manning and Ryan.

Do you want to take another swing on your take?

He’ll finish 9th to Marino’s 8th in career passing yardage.

    Marino 253 average yards/game
