Patriots center David Andrews appeared to be in a lot of pain when he was taken to the locker room after injuring his thigh in the first half of Sunday’s 10-3 win over the Jets and an initial report says he suffered the kind of injury you’d expect to cause that reaction.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Patriots fear Andrews’ injury is a serious one and that it could end his season. He will have more tests to confirm that diagnosis, but it doesn’t sound like there’s much hope of getting good news.

Andrews had missed the team’s last two games with a concussion. James Ferentz replaced him in those contests and was in again after Andrews left on Sunday.

Tackle Isaiah Wynn also left the game with a foot injury, so his condition will be something else to monitor heading into a Thanksgiving game against the Vikings.

  1. He seems to be the difference maker on that oline. With him they are ‘ok’, without him they are the main weakness of the Pats.

  2. Why all the secretive, evasive, talking into your hat statements in regard to suspected or possible diagnosis? A fracture of the femur would have required a traction splint and cart off field, which leaves a soft tissue type injury, bruised bone as possibilities. Anything else would below or above upper leg, ie knee or hip/pelvis. Again, why so evasive with the reporting?

  3. Either way, this o-line is worst unit on the team. Do we trade a late round pick for a vet or just punt the season? The Bills will annihilate us with their front 4.

  4. If that’s the case, that sucks. He’s a good player. Hopefully not serious but if so, speedy recovery.

  5. What a shame. Underrated, undrafted over achiever has had a rough few years. Between blood clots, injuries last year, concussion this year and now this. Team captain and important cog. Really wish him the best.

  6. If the Pats lose Andrews,it will be a real gut punch. Hopefully,it’s not as bad as it looked.

  7. Could be a torn quadricep. If it’s a quad muscle, he’ probably gone for the year, a torn quad tendon, possibly be career threatening.
