Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he suffered injured ribs and feared he had a punctured lung when he exited Sunday night’s loss to the Eagles, but that he thinks he can play next week’s game at Chicago.

“It was in the first half and then got kind of re-aggravated in the third quarter, just having a hard time breathing and rotating my upper body, I was worried about a punctured lung as well. So I wanted to get that checked out. I’ll get a scan tomorrow,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers said he’s unsure whether he broke any ribs, but he did not have a punctured lung.

“It was hard to tell on the X-rays so we’re going to do some more tomorrow,” Rodgers said. “Lung’s fine.”

Rodgers said his status for the game against the Bears will be determined later in the week.

“As long as I check out fine tomorrow I expect to play this weekend,” he said. “I might not be able to go Wednesday, but as long as there’s no major structural damage, I’ll try to get back out there.”

Realistically, the Packers might want to shut Rodgers down because they’re 4-8 and don’t have much to play for, but Rodgers says he’s not ready to throw in the towel.

“We have a five-game stretch, we need to win all five and probably need a little help,” Rodgers said. “As long as we’re mathematically alive I’d like to be out there.”

  1. Rodgers is now going to negotiate with the Packers a buy out clause so he can retire after the season….you can see he’s had enough. How much thought? 10 million under the table and he walks away quietly?

  2. Let’s see if the Packers have the gonads to tell Rodgers he’s done for the year. At a $50m annual price tag I’ll say no, no they do not.

    Why?

Maybe because Jordan Love outperformed you last night?

  4. Jordan Love looked a lot sharper than Rodgers last night. I bet they’re having some serious buyers remorse about the way they have handled Rodgers.

  5. It would take something significant to keep the owner of the Bears from being on the field next week.

    ==========

Could Love have taken over at QB the last 2 years? Sure
Could Love have won 13 and captured the #1 seed the last 2 years? No
Could Love have won back-to-back MVP awards? Absolutely not

Nobody saw the bottom dropping out this year. Terrible coaching, bad defense, poor play from all position groups except for RB, there are TONS of reasons this team will finish in the cellar.

  7. Not that I want a running QB in GB,… but Jordan is pretty swift on his feet and could create another dimension for the Packers offense. At the least,.. the opposing teams defense would have to account for Love running. You saw how Hurts created some serious hurt for the Packers D last night. It won the game for Philly.

  8. Aaron Fraudgers is still better than your QB says:

What you don’t realize is that many of those problems have always been there but Rodgers would paper over them so you wouldn’t notice. Now that he can’t make other-worldly plays anymore, the rest of the warts become obvious.

  9. A lot of people saw the bottom dropping out. Literally almost everybody talked all off season about how the Packers have zero WR’s and that Rodgers refused to show up and work with them. It was reported almost every week.
