Aaron Donald ruled out for Sunday, will miss game due to injury for first time in his career

Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald will do something he’s never done before on Sunday: Miss a game because of an injury.

Rams coach Sean McVay confirmed today that Donald won’t play Sunday against the Seahawks because he has an ankle injury.

Donald has never before missed a game because of an injury. The only two games he’s missed in his career were the first and last games of the 2017 season: The first because of a contract holdout, and the last because the Rams were resting their top players for the playoffs. (Donald won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award for that season despite missing two games.)

The 3-8 Rams have been devastated by injuries this season, and they’re eight-point underdogs on Sunday against the Seahawks.

  5. I hold a firm “sports hatred” for the Rams yet totally respect and admire what Aaron Donald has done in his career. I hope he gets back on the field soon.

  6. McCourty has 3 rings and 5 Bowls. Donald has 2 SB appearances and barely 1 ring from a Goodell Special.

  11. He’s being saved for 2023, along with Stafford and Kupp. It’s smart. 2022 is a lost season for the rams. Too many injuries and a Superbowl hangover

  12. Ewwin Donald missed the entire post season that was their first modern Snoopy Bowl appearance. I say this because he made no plays in the entire post season and was outplayed (again) by a teammate – this time he was outplayed by Suh.

  13. Why are you talking about McCourty TB6? He doesn’t play for the team. Doesn’t play the same position. Isn’t a first ballot HOFer. If you’re going by rings then it’s Brady. Case closed.

  14. Comparing the number of rings for defensive players is complete nonsense. It’s bad enough when done with quarterbacks, but with defensive players it’s complete nonsense.

    It’s a team sport. Ther are 52 other players that contribute. McCourty is a great player. Donald is a great player. COmparing the two is nonsense.

  20. Steroids are not good for your body long term.

    Not true at all. AAS are fine if not abused and men can be on testosterone for their entire lives. Stop believing the After School Special you watched and think that roid rage is real and everyone who does steroids is going to have a heart attack and die.

    I’ve been doing cycles for 20 years, stay on test year round and have ZERO health issues.

    Devin McCourty? Injured and exited the game in the 2nd quarter against the Jets on 13 NOV 2011. Missed the next two games.. Belichick rested him the final game of 2013. Let me know if this sounds familiar; on 13 DEC 2015 he was injured and exited the game in the 2nd quarter against the Texans.Missed the next two games. Devin has been very reliable, but has missed games. And his brother Jason who is now retired? He missed 10 games last season alone.

  26. As a long time Seahawks fans, this team has been scared of Donald for nearly 10 years.

    They change their whole game plan when playing him and he still has had his best career games against them. I thought if he played, no matter how bad the team was they would have a chance because of that. A true hall of fame dude even if he doesn’t take another snap.

    Wrong again.
    1) McCourty will play his 200th game for the Patriots on Thursday. A great accomplishment, but he has missed 5 games in his career.
    2) McCourty is 5’11” 195 lbs and he’s a safety. Donald is 6’1″ 285 lbs and he’s a defensive tackle. Which one would you say is the freak of nature and plays the more physically demanding position?
    3) McCourty has won 3 SB’s, largely due to Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Not taking anything away from McCourty, he’s a fine player, but Brady and Belichick deserve the majority of the credit. Donald has only won the 1 SB but he’s a 3 time defensive player of the year and already compared to the best that ever played the position.
