Patrick Mahomes named AFC offensive player of the month

It’s been a big week for Patrick Mahomes, whose second child was born just a few days ago after the Chiefs defeated the Rams.

Now one of the league’s top MVP candidates has received another honor — which may or may not mean quite as much.

Mahomes has been named AFC offensive player of the month for November.

The quarterback powered the Chiefs to a 4-0 record in November, throwing for at least 320 yards and a touchdown in all four games. He led the league with 116 completions, 1,426 yards passing, and nine touchdowns in that span.

According to the league, Mahomes now has 38 games with at least 300 yards passing in his first six years. That mark now bests Hall of Famer Dan Marino for the most games with 300 yards in a player’s first seven seasons. Marino had 37.

Mahomes has now won five offensive player of the month awards — one in each year he’s been a starter.

The 2018 AP MVP currently leads the league with 3,585 yards passing and 29 passing touchdowns. If the Chiefs keep their hold on the AFC’s No. 1 seed, he could well be on his way to a second MVP award.

But that won’t be easy. The Chiefs will start a string of three consecutive road games with a visit to Cincinnati on Sunday.

  1. Man, Mahomes is just so impressive. What is more impressive, is how many passing records Dan Marino still has a hold off. Mahomes is slowly taking them all.

    Tua > Mahomes

Not >, but more accurate. Not sure why people get so bent out of shape when you say Tua is more accurate than Mahomes. It’s a fact and just one measurable of many for a QB.

  3. Too bad Tua had a bye week. Pick any of Mahomes’ best 3 games and Tua’s 3 beat them. But it’s fine, I understand…

    Tua > Mahomes

    ——————————————————————

This is a pretty ridiculous take , even the most ardent anti Mahomes fan out there would say that thinking Tua is better than Patrick is nothing but foolish trolling or blind fan boy who clearly has a blind spot for anything Dolphins.

Before Hill arrived Tua was the definition of an average quarterback.
First year starting he had 1814 yards , 11 touchdowns /5 interceptions
    Second year -2653 yards , 16 touchdowns/ 10 interceptions
    Third year- 2564 yards , 19 touchdowns/3 interceptions

Without Hill Tua would go back to his average and once again be the definition of an average qb like
    In years 1 and 2

    Mahomes last year with
    Hill – 4839 yards , 37 touchdowns/13 interceptions
    Mahomes this year without Hill
    3585 yards , 29 touchdowns/ 8 interceptions

    He’s fine without Hill , won a
Super Bowl his 2nd year starting and has won
The AFC championship title 2 times and has been in that game 4 times

    What’s Tuas playoff record again?

  5. It’ll be interesting in about 23 or so years from now if the Chiefs draft Patrick Mahomes III.

  6. Well deserved….Mahomes is a beast. But Burrow is 2-0 vs him, both in KC. See ya Sunday Pat!
