Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa exited Sunday’s loss to the 49ers late in the fourth quarter and was announced as questionable to return with an ankle injury.

Tagovailoa said he was feeling as good as he could after a game, though he admitted he had to undergo some more tests.

But word has now emerged that there isn’t much concern about Tagovailoa going forward.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Tagovailoa’s ankle injury is not believed to be significant and Tagovailoa could have re-entered the game had it not been out of reach. Tagovailoa is expected to start the Week 14 matchup against the Chargers in Los Angeles.

Tagovailoa left the game after he was strip-sacked by Nick Bosa and the loose ball was returned for a touchdown with 1:53 left in the contest. The quarterback had a rough day against the 49ers defense, finishing 18-of-33 for 295 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Before Sunday’s game, Tagovailoa had not thrown a pick since September.

  1. Is Tua ever NOT injured?
The Dolphins still need a real QB, the Tua expirement is over.

  2. Great to hear that it isn’t a significant injury. Someone please let Dolphins fans know that their 5 streak of the easiest stretch of games in NFL history against the worst defenses in the league is over and they are back to playing NFL quality teams.

Tua’s MVP season ended against the Texans.

  3. First off, tua had a off game . Tried to bounce back too late. The defense seems to be the Achilles hill. So many blown opportunities from SFO to to blow it out more. Wide open TE missed because we bite to hard on the play action. Josh boyer will be the reason we miss the playoffs and/or not go far in play offs. we have talent on defense. Just a shame

  4. Glad to hear. Tua is doing a masterful job considering what he has to work with. I’m rooting for him.

  5. He played one of the best defenses in the league, without both his tackles, amd lost his #2 receiver early. Calm down

Our Pats have been collapsing since Brady walked…..and Bob Kraft is underwhelmed. BB is proving to be Jeff Fisher when Tom Brady isn’t bailing him out

Like when they beat the Patriots, Ravens and Bills before that? Sunday's loss was disappointing for Dolphins fans and the 49ers deserved to win. But most of the reasons that led to it are fully within the Dolphins' control. The next several weeks will show whether they can learn from this and return to form for the end-of-season AFC East run.

  9. Dolphins sure are a fickle bunch. Last week they loved the under throw king. This week they want Ryan Fitzpatrick back. Lol.

Their D stinks and they are a finesse team and some of theit fans knows it. Most are just frontrunning bandwagoners part of a fanbase that has always been like this even when Marino played. Their games were blacked out on tv.

You should learn to show some humility. Since Brady walked, the Pats haven’t won anything and are currently in last place.

It was Gronk all along. Brady is looking below average without Gronk.

  14. Losing games in December and bragging about wins from September; I too remember when my team didn’t make the playoffs and I thought regular season wins in September meant something.

    Poor Dolphins fans were humbled.
