Robert Saleh thinks Jets will see Bills again this season

The Jets and Bills completed a hard-fought season series in Buffalo on Sunday.

The Jets won the first matchup 20-17 and fell short 20-12 this time around. Jets head coach Robert Saleh said at his postgame press conference that he feels like the team let a good opportunity slip through their fingers and shared his belief that there will be a third round for the AFC East clubs.

“Obviously I love our guys, they fight their tails off,” Saleh said. “I think I speak for everyone when I say we missed an opp. We’re gonna see these guys again.”

A third game would require the Jets to make the playoffs and Saleh was asked what gave him that confidence.

“I just think we are. . . . I think our team is good enough,” Saleh said. “Obviously it’s week to week, but we got a good football team.”

Sunday’s loss dropped the Jets to 7-6. Whether they remain in playoff position will hinge on what happens when the Patriots face the Cardinals on Monday night. The Jets will be hoping for an Arizona win in that game and a Dolphins win over the Chargers on Sunday night would deal another one of the teams behind them a blow heading into the final four weeks.

  1. Realistically, they will likely need to run the table in their next 3 games (vs. DET, vs. JAX, @ SEA) to have a decent chance at the
    playoffs.

Its definitely doable but their Offensive Coordinator needs to call way better games and they need to start getting rid of the dumb penalties.

  2. The Jets are just grabbing at straws. Their quarterbacks took a beating today.

  3. They could run the table. These “lowly” Jets are a very good team – probably one of the best defenses in the league, and a QB who is very tough.

Saleh has really changed the culture there.

  4. Yes, it would be really cool for Saleh to bring the boys back to Buffalo to sit in the stands and watch the Bills in the playoffs.

“These “lowly” Jets are a very good team.” = 2-6 record against teams with a current .500 record or better.

  6. Jets need to finish a game better than the Pats since Patriots own the tiebreaker. If not, they are cooked.

Well, they’re tied right now. And the Pats have a tougher schedule.

Jets are better than the Pats, despite the head-to-head record. If they had started White the whole season, New England would already be thinking about the ’23 draft.

  8. Don’t worry, Jets. You might have a shot at Sam Darnold or Geno Smith in the offseason.

  9. Haha. Disgruntled Pats fan. Josh Allen > any Pats QB for the next 10 years. Let that sink in….another decade of losing.

The Jets just match up well with the Bills.

Jets Wins – They squeeked past the Steelers when Trubisky was replaced by the rookie Pickett, 1 pointed the Browns in an insane ending where they scored 2 TD’s in 90 seconds to win, pummeled the Dolphins when the Dolphins had to play a 7th round rookie QB 99% of the game, beat a reeling Green Bay team, edged the Broncos, pummeled the Bears without Justin Fields, and edged the Bills (the only actual quality win).

Jets Losses – The Patriots, The Patriots again, The Bills, The Ravens, The Bengals, The Vikings. They’ve played well at times, but they did lose those games. Mike White is playing well, but we’ve seen backups come in and play well for a few games. That does not make them starters. I like White though.

So I’d not get too excited for the Jets yet though. The Lions, Seahawks, and Dolphins will all be playing for something.

As for them being better than the Patriots, I’d respond by saying the Patriots offense has been in some disarray…startling disarray at times….and the Jets still lost to them…..Twice. Your opinion is marred by the difficulty the Bills have with them contrasted with how much better the Bills match up with the Patriots. But teams still have to play EACH OTHER, and it’s also a matter of how do you stack up/handle all the other teams. It is close for sure….and the Jets look to have a bright future….but the Patriots also look to improve that offense, like the Jets hope to improve the QB situation. So we’ll see. But as far as the Jets are concerned, you would have a right to be worried because they do seem to have the personnel and blueprint to hold the Bills offense in check. 18.5 per game this season. 20 today…and the Bills average 34 at home. That’s a solid job by the Jets.

The Patriots have a tough road @AZ for MNF, @LV, Bengals at home, @Buff, Mia at home. Even if the Patriots win Monday night and slide into the 7th playoff spot, I’d say the Jets have an edge going forward IF White is healthy.

Then, there’s The Chargers waiting to pounce on any missteps….

    More will be revealed…

    ——-

Yeah let’s just throw out the head to head games this year…and the fact the Pats beat Mike White and the Jets by 40 last year….the Jets are better because you said so….

With that logic the Pats are better than Buffalo

  12. The Jets will see them again on TV. Shouldn’t have lost both to NE if you wanted to make the playoffs.
