Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has a sprained right shoulder, but John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports that X-rays were negative and an MRI confirmed it was only a sprain.

Hurts’ availability for Saturday’s game against the Cowboys is in doubt, and coach Mike McCarthy said the team is preparing for Hurts and Gardner Minshew.

But the good news for the Eagles is the injury is not considered serious, per Clark, and will require only “some rest and some rehab.”

“I’m told there is no doubt: Jalen Hurts will be ready for the playoffs,” Clark wrote. “One Eagle told me, ‘He’s a tough MF.'”

Hurts was injured late in the third quarter when Bears defensive end Trevis Gipson drove Hurts into the frozen ground after the Eagles quarterback kept the ball on a zone-read. Hurts was slow to get up.

“Yeah, it wasn’t the first time I’ve been slow [to get up],” Hurts said after the game when asked about it. “Won’t be the last. I didn’t play a really physical game, and it was real cold, too. So happy we were able to find a win and find a way.”

Hurts was helped to his feet by left tackle Jordan Mailata, and Hurts didn’t miss a snap.

“The one that scared me, he just laid there,” Mailata said. “I ran over and said, ‘Stay down.’ And he said, ‘Pick me the f— up.’ And I said, ‘Yes, sir.’”

In the fourth quarter, after his injury, Hurts went 6-of-9 for 102 yards and had six rushing attempts for 9 yards and a touchdown.

The Eagles need only one win in their final three games to clinch the division and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

  1. Hurts is a leader of men. His teammates know he wants to win. I thought he was the steal of the draft because I know he can read a pass defense.

  2. Just put a bet in on the Eagles winning the Superbowl. This is 2017 all over again. Easy money.

  3. No surprise with a QB that runs and thus exposes himself that much. This won’t be the last time he’s out.

Such a burden to carry being the starting running back on a team with no QB.—————————————————————————————-

Pretty clear that you know little to nothing about football. One of the best QB in the NFL and you say they have no QB. Hurts completion % 68%, QB Rating of 104 if he’s not a QB I’ll take him any day of the week.

  5. Cowboy fans know all about 1 and done. Been the same old ending for the few times they even made the playoffs the last 30 years.

  6. With the Eagles’ solid lead and the extra long regular season, why not sit him down for a few weeks to let him heal? Like the NBA, the NFL should be about load management, especially given how physical the game is. What matters is Hurts being ready for the playoffs.

  7. So he leads the league in almost every QB metric, his team mates love playing with him, an MVP Candidate and suddenly he’s done?
Eagles haters step back and recognize, this guy is good.
Hate the Team, okay, don’t hate the player or the effort…Be Honest about it.

Jalen Hurts is a leg injury away from being RGIII.

  11. Soo sad that the league no longer permits the t.v. cameras to scan Jerr’s owner’s box for his instant reaction to a devastating loss .

  12. Hurts, unlike RG III and numerous other run first QB’s, is a pass first QB, with excellent passing stats. He runs when need be or when it’s a called run. I just looked at his stats and they are unreal as a passer. I see some patriots and cowboy haters of the eagles on here. Patriot fans still butt hurt because they got beat by a guy named Foles who can catch when the goat couldn’t, and cowboy fans clearly wallowing in a 27 year drought. I think it took the eagles 52 years to win one, you are more than half way there since your last. I love rivalries, but most of you spew incorrect statements as fact. If Hurts plays Saturday the eagles will win with the over by at least 17. If he doesn’t play I would take the cowboys by 3. In a playoff game the cowboys have no shot against most of the NFC. Their defense has been exposed by a few really bad teams and Dak still has to try to make the big play when there’s nothing there. That’s why Hirts is a top 5 right now and is out Dak out of the top 10.

You must be a soccer fan as it is obvious you do not know football:

Eagles barely beat Fields and the Bears. They’re going nowhere”

and Cowboys lost to Jags, so they won’t even get to nowhere. Sad
