Jerry Jones: Dak Prescott was outstanding in loss to Jaguars, we can win when he plays like that

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was very happy with the way quarterback Dak Prescott played in Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars.

“We can win with him playing like that to be trite. I thought he played outstanding,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “As we see, he wasn’t playing against chopped liver out there. And, so, I thought he did play really well. I thought he made good decisions. Overall we can — if he plays like that, we can win most games.”

Sunday’s game ended with Prescott throwing a pick-six in overtime, although that one really was the fault of wide receiver Noah Brown, who had the ball in his arms and failed to haul it in. Still, Prescott has thrown interceptions on 3.9 percent of his passes this season, by far the worst rate of his career, and Jones acknowledged that needs to get cleaned up.

“Certainly those interceptions can neutralize great execution and effort in other parts of the game. And that’s being trite,” Jones said. “I can tell you right now the definition of aggressiveness does not have to include turnovers. Aggressive does not. And I do like aggressiveness without turnovers.”

Jones has complete confidence that if Prescott plays well, the Cowboys are capable of beating anyone in the NFL.

  1. The Jaguar’s game proved that the team can’t win like that. Attention to detail on every play is imperative.

  2. “Jones has complete confidence that if Prescott plays well, the Cowboys are capable of beating anyone in the NFL.”

With the except of a loss to the Eagles, all others were to teams with losing records as of today. Cowboys, as always, are overrated.

  3. Yeah Jerry, he played so well that he was able to throw a second interception in overtime that resulted in a walk off pick six for the Jaga – simply outstanding play by Prescott

  4. Clearly, Jerry and I see things differently. I want a QB that makes plays to win games, not an outstanding QB.

  5. What can he say. The Cowboys are locked in with that mega contract. Dak is a good player and a good guy, but he won’t win the big games for you come crunch time in the playoffs.

  6. Every season, you think that the Cowboys are going somewhere, until they hit December. Then it comes apart.

  7. Jerrah has to say something to make people believe that he believes his money was well spent.

  8. As an Eagles fan, I’m liking the Hurts v Prescott situation for the next 10 years. And by the end of this year Hurts will already have more playoff wins than Prescott, or the Cowboys in general for the last 25 years. GO BIRDS!!

  9. Dak can lose games but his stats will always make it appear like it was somebody else’s fault. Meanwhile, there are other guys who won’t have nearly the stats but they somehow manage to win the big games.

  10. Jerry stop! Go count your money and see how many over priced hot dogs and beers sold at Jerry World to pay a much over priced Quarterback.

  11. The question is why ESPN, and most other major media, is complicit with Jerry’s PR campaign for his team?! I actually heard a guy on ESPN radio one weekend that it was their responsibility to promote the Cowboys above other teams, even when they don’t win, because it’s good for the game(??!!) What sense does that make?! How does a guy who hasn’t won anything in over 26 years keep his team and it’s hype promoted above and beyond teams that are winning, and are actually more popular!

  12. As an eagles fan, I like Dak. He comes across as genuine and he’s a good player. I hope he continues to impress Jerry Jones also since apparently throwing a pick 6 in OT is a good play in his world

I disagree, but there needs to be adequate support from the team around him. Dak isn’t Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert but he is in that #5 – 10 range. He needs a good O-line, good running game and a stout defense to win. Cowboys defense is suddenly suspect as season-ending injuries to the secondary have revealed a lack of depth there. That will be a problem.

  14. Dak threw a 4th Q pick from his OWN ENDZONE that should have cost Dallas a loss to the Texans. Houston couldn’t punch it in (30 other teams would’ve scored). So instead of being tagged with that loss, he gets glorified for his “game winning drive.”

  15. For some reason I get the feeling that with an important game on the line, Prescott won’t come through. Big thing in this game was how bad the Dallas D is performing. Any team that can run the ball will bounce dallas from the playoffs
