Lions still alive, Rams-Seahawks headed to overtime tied at 16

That sound you just heard might be the Lions cheering in the locker room at Lambeau Field.

With a chance to win and end Detroit’s postseason hopes, Seattle kicker Jason Myers sent a 46-yard field goal off the right upright to send the game against Los Angeles to overtime tied at 16-16.

The Lions’ postseason hopes rely on the Seahawks losing to the Rams on Sunday afternoon. So they’ll know whether or not they’re still alive by the time their game against the Packers kicks off.

Seattle got in position to win the game when quarterback Geno Smith took a scramble 25 yards to the L.A. 45 with just 40 seconds to go. He ran into Jalen Ramsey as he went out of bounds, which resulted in a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on the Rams’ defensive back.

After a Ken Walker run was stuffed for a two-yard gain, Smith spiked the ball with three seconds left on the clock to set up Myers’ 46-yard attempt. But that “doinked” off the yellow pole and sent the game to an extra 10-minute period.

  1. No dog in this fight. But I feel so bad for Lions fans… NFL will make sure that Green Bay wins tonight.

  2. Not after the refs running into the kicker call. The zebras turn the worm. Even with that, Baker could’ve won the game. Instead he threw a rainbow.

If the Lions win I expect you to be on here saying that you were obviously wrong and the league doesn’t fix games. I heard they were also “going to make sure” the Steelers got in. So what happened?

  4. I have never seen a more one sided officiated game in my life. Pretty obvious that the NFL wanted drama for the Packers/Lions game.

wouldn’t there be more drama if the NFL had let the Rams win?

I expect that Packers will get in, aided by favorable calls. This is how the NFL wants it. If not, I’ll say I’m wrong.

Answer: Steelers won. But I’ve never heard that the NFL wants the Steelers in. Just the Packers. And it sure seems to play out that way.

Favorable scheduling flex, wouldn’t you agree?

  7. Unconscionable that the Lions/Packers game wasn’t at the same time as Seattle game.

  8. I was hoping the Seahawks would lose. Not only would it eliminate that gun gnawing idiot coach and team, but the Packers and Lions would be a better game. Wouldn’t have been mad if the Packers or lions made the playoffs.

…logical scheduling flex I’d say, given the potential stakes.

You must not read the comments here often, because people constantly claim the league wants the Steelers to be good, or that the league wants x to win or y to lose. You’d think these people would be outstanding at picking NFL games but they usually wait to see the score before telling you they KNEW which team the league wanted to win.

  10. Worst officiated game over watched. Total joke. I don’t care who you are pulling for. I’m a lions fan but that was an absolute fricken joke! Are you kidding me. Just wait until A A Ron gets all the calls tonight! Absolute Joke. I’m glad I don’t bet on this fixed sport! Shameful

  11. There is no way Tou could watch that and tell me it’s not a fricken farce. I’m done. What a joke! Shame on the NFL and these refs they put out there! Ugh I’m so angry! How is that OK??

  12. …logical scheduling flex I’d say, given the potential stakes.

I’m sure that Lions fans aren’t happy about the flex. And all Packer fans I know were thrilled. That doesn’t seem fair.

And it’s playing out that way.

Might as well start printing the Packer Wildcard hat and tee shirt now.

If that was actually the case you’d think the league wouldn’t have dragged their feet the previous 17 weeks to get them in.
But, I guess, better late than never. 🤡
