The 49ers will open the playoffs as the second seed in the NFC and one of the reasons for their success this season has been the arrival of running back Christian McCaffrey.

McCaffrey came to the team in an October trade with the Panthers and the 49ers have gone 10-1 since that deal. That includes a 6-0 mark in December and January.

McCaffrey ran 101 times for 505 yards and four touchdowns while also catching 27 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

The NFL named McCaffrey the NFC offensive player of the month in recognition of that efforts. The 49ers hope that he’ll keep it rolling well enough for the team to pick up some more hardware in Arizona next month.

  1. Hey everyone, remember when Baker Mayfield was named Offensive Player of the Week? I hope he framed and mounted that award.

  2. This year’s playoffs will be the best in many years as both conferences have some powerful teams including the 49ers with the addition of McCaffrey. The guy has been wasting away in Carolina for the past 5 years and now gets to show off his talent with a run to the SB.

  3. I remember all the comments mocking the Niners for the CMC trade talking about how he’s gonna end up on IR in no time. Looks like all that talk didn’t age well.

  4. Give it time Niner Fan.
He’s been hurt or limited in games more than he has played since coming into the league.
No reason to think he’s gonna stay healthy.
Dude is too small to play RB and not get hurt.

  5. I do wish that Kyle would spread the ball around more to other backs given his injury history but CMC has been phenomenal since he came to the team. Just completely changed the offense, especially the passing game.

  6. Mitchell was out but I agree Kyle should have given Jordan Mason more carries. He took some chances with CMC and it ended up working out. If CMC got hurt while Mitchell was out, this could have been a lost season.
