Offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur is not the only member of the Jets’ offensive coaching staff who has lost his job this week.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh confirmed today that offensive line coach John Benton will not be back in 2023.

Benton spent the last two seasons with the Jets, following Saleh and LaFleur from San Francisco. Benton has also been an offensive line coach for the 49ers, Jaguars, Dolphins, Texans and Rams.

Benton was arrested for DUI during the offseason last year.

  1. Looks like Saleh is using up his fall guys, mainly for the failure with a certain QB, why this season was again a failure for the Jets. If they start off bad next year don’t see Saleh making it pass the bye week. Can’t be a good look for his personally picked coaches to have to be firing them after a few years.

  2. Was Robert Saleh a good coach? Jets defend was very good before Saleh came.
After drafting Wilson, Saleh (he’s not alone) did not spot Wilson needed a QB fundamental coach (footwork and throwing) before he would be coached up. Even a layman like me spotted Wilson’s fundamental issues.
Saleh waited almost 10 months from draft date before he hired Tom House to teach Wilson how to throw. Then no Tom House for Wilson’s second season. Didn’t Saleh see Wilson’s fundamental not fixed?
