2022 AP All-Pro second team features Jalen Hurts over Josh Allen

Previously, Associated Press All-Pro voters had one vote per position. If that were the case in 2022, there would have been 49 votes for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, one for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, and none for anyone else.

By expanding the voting, more players got votes. Hurts ended up with 22 points under the revised voting system; Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow received 15 each.

It’s surprising that Hurts finished second, given that he missed multiple late-season games.

Here’s the full Associated Press All-Pro second team.

  1. Anyone who voted for Hurts over Burrow doesn’t know how to look at individual play on the football field. There isn’t a single talent evaluator worth his weight in salt that would say Hurts is a better QB than Burrow. Hurts plays behind what might be the best OL and one of the best rosters all around. Put him on the Bengals and they are a .500 at best team. Put Burrow on the Eagles and they might go 20-0. Burrow should have been 2nd team if not 1st. He and Mahomes are the best two QBs in the league right now.

  2. I think Sewell in Detroit was more deserving than Wirfs in TB, who hardly ever run the ball …

  3. Josh Allen cost the Bills a couple of wins. Even if his highs were much, much higher than Hurts’, his lows were also much lower than Hurts’ lows. Making Hurts second team is plenty reasonable.

  4. No Bosa who led the league in both sacks and game-changing or winning plays on D.

As usual, the AP embarrasses itself.

Ummm; he is 1st Team All Pro. Look before you leap.

But you yourselves awarded offensive rookie of the year to a guy that played only 6 games.

  8. Wow, seems like “All-Pro” teams are dropping out of the sky these days. And apparently everyone is an expert on evaluating performance, ultimately diluting any validity of any of them.

  9. Many idiots who clearly don’t see how good Hurts is. That’s okay…. You’ll be made fools of sooner or later.

Put Hurts behind Buffalo’s O-Line and see what his stats would be.

Why does everyone think Buffalo has a great line?

The AP All-Pro selections have been around for over 50 years.

  12. It’s not about who has the most talent. It’s not a draft.

Burrow came back too early and was a huge reason the Bengals stunk to start the year….he was injured/recovering but it’s a factor.

Allen had a few clunkers too.

Hurts hasn’t had a bad game.

  13. Glad to see Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence make the team. Both are very deserving!
CJ Mosley, on the other hand, has absolutely no business being on an All Pro team. Voters should be required to release their ballots to the public so we can see everyone’s votes
