The All-Pro team comes from 50 media voters selected by the Associated Press. This year, two players appeared on the first-team ballot of every player.

The unanimous first-team All-Pros were Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Both received 50 first-place votes from the 50 voters.

Kelce’s achievement is more significant, given that the voters select only one first-team tight end. Three receivers are picked.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes received 49 of 50 first-place votes, as did 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa and Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press has posted the full breakdown of the 2022 voting.

  1. Devil’s advocate – as the TE position gets marginalized by 4 WR sets, maybe there just aren’t that many good TEs.

    Kelce
    Kittle

    …?

No, it’s demonstrably less significant given there are about 5 good pass catching tight ends in the league

  4. So a couple of CBs who pretty much shut down the unanimous WR don’t get named to the first team?

  5. There might be 4 other good pass catching tight ends in the league right now, and then there is one phenomenal receiving/blocking tight end.

He’s strung together seven consecutive 1000 plus yard receiving seasons at this point.

He continually racks up more receiving yards and TD receptions as a tight end than many teams leading wide receivers.

Fake Gronk is only 33, has only been injured & missing games during his rookie season, plays like a perpetual 25 yr old prime athlete.

Maybe double and triple coverage, and 1 good game out of 17 doesn’t mean what it used to.

  7. You cannot possibly argue against these two. Now, should a couple others have been unanimous, like Patrick Mahomes? Of course. Who was picked over Mahomes on one ballot?

  8. I’m going to need to know who didn’t pick Mahomes at QB. His stats were far and above any other QB, add his lackluster WR corps and lack of running game…. Someone needs their credentials pulled.

  9. Somebody picked Jalen Hurts over Patrick Mahomes. I’ll bet some of you from the Philly area could figure out who did that.

So it took a couple of CBs plus the safety cheating JJs way to shut him down. That’s why he is first team.
