The Broncos interviewed two more head coaching candidates on Tuesday.

Mike Klis of KUSA reports that the team completed interviews with former Saints head coach Sean Payton and Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris in Los Angeles. Tuesday was the first day that in-person interviews with coaches employed by other teams were allowed and the Broncos had scheduled both meetings last week.

Payton is set to interview with the Panthers later this week and the Cardinals have also received permission to speak with him. Morris also had an interview with the Colts for their head coaching vacancy.

The Broncos are slated to interview 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans on Thursday and Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn on Friday. They also interviewed their defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, former Stanford coach David Shaw, former Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, and Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh with Harbaugh subsequently announcing that he will remain in Ann Arbor.

  1. Soooooo, is it like a 3 team trade? Because Seattle has all the Denver picks that New Orleans might want, LOL.

  2. Nope I would think Texans get him. No cap hell owner will stay out of the way and give up control. Picks out of the wazoo from the browns.

  3. Payton’s only success was with one of the greatest QB’s of all time. Why do so many people think he will be the savior for whichever team he coaches?

  4. Only way any of these guys take that job is if they have no other options. Why walk into a situation where you’re stuck with a prima donna, sub-mediocre QB who alone eats up a third of the salary cap? Oh, and you don’t have any draft picks this year because they belong to Seattle.

  5. 35+ year Broncos fan here, anybody but Payton. This is the guy who’s bored in the booth and is looking for a heavy payday. We don’t need to spend draft capital on that. We had to get rid of a pro bowl pass rusher just to get back into the bottom of the first round this draft year. Just hire somebody that has something to prove. Or Dan Quinn, like we should have last offseason.

    _____________

McNair is going to stay out of the way?

  7. Way too much hype for Payton like the second coming of Lombardi. He’s average at best all because fo Brees. One Super Bowl doesnt make you a genius coach and he bailed when he knew it would be rough without Brees.

  8. Box checked for Rooney rule. Walmart monopoly money to bring in Payton…Then watch the Donkies implode with Russ the cook, a below average roster and the loss of draft capital. Priceless

  9. Oh, and you don’t have any draft picks this year because they belong to Seattle.

    >>>>>>>>>>

Wrong. They have a first round pick, plus two high third round picks that’s 3 picks in the first 70 (Very few teams have that) In addition, they have two 4’s and a 5.(that’s six total and will likely scare up another pick or two for this draft.)

  10. Let’s be realistic, Brees is a poor man’s first ballot HOF QB Russel Wilson. Payton is probably begging for the job.
