Jonah Williams, Alex Cappa officially ruled out for Bengals

The signs have pointed in the direction of the Bengals being shorthanded on the offensive line all week and the team made it official on Friday.

Head coach Zac Taylor said that left tackle Jonah Williams and right guard Alex Cappa have been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Bills. Williams dislocated his kneecap last Sunday and Cappa has an ankle injury that kept him from playing in the win over the Ravens.

Jackson Carman replaced Williams and Max Scharping got the start in place of Cappa. The Bengals are also playing Hakeem Adeniji at right tackle with La'el Collins out for the rest of the season.

The Ravens had four sacks and limited the Bengals to 51 rushing yards last Sunday, but a 98-yard fumble return by Sam Hubbard helped Cincinnati advance to face Buffalo. The Bengals will be hoping that a week of work for their rejiggered offensive line will be enough to get the offense moving back in the right direction.

  1. Ouch, now we know for sure if the game if the Bills are up 7-3 in the first quarter and pick up another first down the game is essentially over. No way the Bengals can overcome 3-7 deficit with 7 minutes left in the first quarter if the Bills have the ball again.

  2. “Anytime, Anywhere”

    Buffalo, you’re next.

Despite these injuries, the “inevitability” of Joe B and the Bengals will continue to defy the odds and all the under-estimators.

  3. We all know the line had issues last year but at least they had a year of reps together. This makeshift line has a small set of reps and now goes on the road in a playoff game. That is a big difference.

Giants won two Super Bowls because of their D-line dominance, Bengals will need a lot of help from the D controlling the game. Bills will be careful with the ball and try to have long sustained drives like the Ravens to keep the ball away in a more low scoring game.

  4. Bills have been struggling on D and the Bengals will be pulling guys off the street to protect their QB. If they can come up with a plan to get Burrow some time I think they can exploit the back end of the Bills D. Allen has coughed the ball up too much recently keeping bad teams around.

  5. What a sham(e). Down O-linemen and forced to play in Buffalo. Good thing for the Bengals that they have the best QB in the game. Medias narrative doesnt change history. Bengals are the king of the AFC until the year they dont make the superbowl.

  6. It’s a big deal but they played like heroes last year with a bad line. They can overcome it but it’ll be tough against a good team at home. The line is starting to feel a little more accurate by the day. Still probably will be a 3pt game

  7. “Bills have been struggling on D” Dolphins had 18 pts off turnovers. Defense gave up 13 pts in the playoffs.

  8. They needed the ball to fall luckily into one of their players hands…and another ball to just miss falling luckily into their opponents hands to scrape by last week…
Unless they happen on some more major luck this week…they are toast!

Last week Miami had 231 total years, 3.9 yards per play, and went 4/16 on third down. Yes, against a third string QB, but to say the defense struggled? It’s almost like you looked at the score and didn’t bother with the facts.

And the lucky Bills continue to get luckier.

    ????????? Von Miller, Hamlin…

  11. The lucky Bills get luckier? The same Bills who have EDGE Von Miller, starting safety Micah Hyde and reserve safety Damar Hamlin out for the season?

“Bills have been struggling on D” Dolphins had 18 pts off turnovers. Defense gave up 13 pts in the playoffs.—– yeah against the third string quarterback

  13. C’mon Bengals fans. You can’t make conditional excuses for the team before the game even starts. i.e. “If we lose, it’s because, wah, wah, wah.” Strap it up and let’s play!

  14. If the Bills go up 7-3 in the first quarter will Bungles fans concede the game? Asking for a friend.

  15. Ehh, I don’t buy all the focus on O line VS D line. Focus on the matchups for the other 20 different guys. Bengals didn’t make it this far just on their O line, and Bills have a bunch of key dudes on IR too. Show some respect to each other >.< Don't let the noise distract you from a good game.

  16. After reading all these posts there’s no doubt whoever wins, they’re gonna be a ton of excuses come 700pm Sunday night.

  17. Our O line is in shambles! We don’t have Von Miller or Hyde! Allen is a turnover machine! We should be the #1 seed! Coin flip! Really? You played a 3rd string QB! You played a 2nd string QB! We feel disrespected! Blah, blah, blah!!

I guess it would be too easy to say whoever wins the game was just the better team.

Doesn’t really matter who wins, KC is going to destroy whichever the following week.

Yeah they’ve really dominated the last 6 games between the Bills and Bengals with that juggernaut defense.

    1. Von Miller injury hurts you. Prob cost you the SB
    2. Hyde isn’t out for the year
3 Hamlin is average at best
