The Ravens are in the market for a new offensive coordinator after the departure of Greg Roman, but head coach John Harbaugh says he doesn’t expect major changes.

After insisting that Lamar Jackson will be back as the starting quarterback and will have input into the next offensive coordinator, Harbaugh said the last thing the Ravens want to do is reinvent the wheel.

“We’ve established an identity for our offense; I think everybody knows that who plays against us and watches us play,” Harbaugh said, via the Baltimore Sun. “That’s important; that’s a good identity. That’s an identity that we’re going to carry forward.”

Jackson is a unique quarterback, and if the Ravens want to make the most of his talents they need a unique system. They’ve had that under Roman, and Harbaugh is vowing that won’t change.

  1. Their identity is horrible clock management and dirty players. And being one and done in the playoffs. Garbage organization!

  2. I am by no means an O/C. Heck, I’d be hard pressed to qualify as the water boy. But, In am a fan of football. The Ravens never played the “Hot Hand”. They never kept the foot on the gas. They never adjusted to mid-quarter changes by the opponent. Is that going to continue also? I hope that is not the identity he speaks of. Once Baltimore got Dobbins and Edwards back they failed to establish a punishing running game. Dobbins would get 12-15 yds. on 2 carries then they would throw into a 3 and out. If thats the identity going forward then GOOD LUCK!!! Even a lay fan knows you have to establish a good run game when your wide receivers are mediocre. You have to bring up the linebackers and D-backs before an attempt is made to take the top off the defense. Giving your running backs 12 carries a game won’t do it!!!!

  3. Trade away our best WR because Lamar is a ball hog and thinks he is still in college and can run it 15 times a game. Not sustainable in the NFL and overpaying one guy will set the franchise back.

They have an offensive system that nobody else runs. No coherent passing system besides run around and throw it to the TE if the QB decides not to run the ball. 4 RBs and no WRs.

Sure. The OCs will be falling all over themselves to run that system with those skill players.

  5. That identity has 2 division titles in the last 9 years and 1 playoff win during that time. Might be time to change identities.

  6. Well, that means you don’t need a quarterback or wide receivers. Just load up on running backs who can throw a few passes to each other just to keep defenses from stacking eight men in the box. This team has no real offense.

  7. Then why fire Roman if your not going to change much? This team is stuck in mud, even if their qb could throw the ball accurately, who’s he throwing too?

Because he’s lying trying to create demand/phone calls to deal Jackson asap.

Popular opinion is around these parts is Jackson is inaccurate but the unpopular FACT is Jackson is on target percentage is roughly the same as Justin Herbert and is Better than Josh Allen and Jimmy Garropollo who people around here think are elite. Jackson just plays with the worst group of wide receivers in the league evidenced by the fact that the Ravens dropped a record percentage of passes. Every QB needs guys who can win one on one at WR or you will be too easy to defend. Jackson is an elite QB who makes magic happen. They can not score without him on the field.
