General Manager Joe Schoen says he wants quarterback Daniel Jones back with the Giants in 2023.

Jones, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in March if the Giants don’t franchise tag him or sign him to a new contract, said himself he wants to be back, and Schoen said much the same thing.

“We’d like Daniel to be here,” Schoen said. “He said it yesterday, there’s a business side to it, but we feel like Daniel played well this season, he’s done everything we asked him to do. Again, there’s a business side to it, we haven’t went down that road yet, we still have meetings with our staff late in the week and we’ll devise an offseason plan. We haven’t had those meetings yet, but we would like to have Daniel Jones back.”

Whether the Giants will bring Jones back by putting the franchise tag on him or signing him to a long-term contract extension is unknown, but at least for now, the team is indicating that he’s the quarterback for 2023.

  1. Good season, Giants. (from Eagles fan). It’s a really tough decision on Jones. They need to upgrade at WR and TE. Still do as well on O Line. Good coaching. Good D. Good special teams. I wouldn’t want to sign him to a huge deal. But I think they can go with him again next yr. See them in a situation somewhat similar to Chiefs when they had Alex Smith. Knew they were on the right path. But thought they could get better at QB.

  2. Let Saquon go. Tag and trade Jones. I like Tanner McKee from Stanford. He can be taken late in the 1st round.

  3. Ive been a Giants fan since I was a 9 year old kid in 1979. I wouldnt want Schoen’s job this off-season.

  4. The exclusive franchise tag for QBs will be $45+ million. It makes more sense to tag Saquon and try to negotiate a deal with DJ.

  5. Yes!! Please Extend His Contract!! The Birds Will Continue To Dominate This Joke Of A Franchise

  6. If he’s healthy, Derek Carr at QB, Beida at RB, restructure Leonard Williams, spend your money where you need it.

  7. Jones isn’t the problem. Give him actual receivers and a decent Oline and see what happens.

DJ is fraud go ahead and over pay him giants
There are no players that are “frauds”. There is a league of players with varying talent levels through careers, seasons, and weeks. No one is lying about or faking playing their position. Except for Brett Maher pretending to be a kicker, maybe.
