Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore couldn’t help Dallas advance past the 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs and that leaves him free to speak to other teams this week.

Moore will be spending some time on Tuesday with the Panthers. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Moore is set to interview for Carolina’s head coaching vacancy.

Moore played three seasons with the Cowboys before joining their coaching staff as their quarterbacks coach in 2018 and moved up to offensive coordinator the next season. He interviewed for head coaching jobs last year, but the Panthers are the first team to speak with him this offseason.

The Panthers interviewed former Saints head coach Sean Payton Monday. They have also interviewed their interim head coach Steve Wilks, former Colts head coach Frank Reich, former Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

  1. One year ago, this guy was being called a “genius” and “one of the great minds in football.” Hyperbole? Or is the bar is set so low in the NFL? In either case, Moore still looks more like the guy who refills the Gatorade rather than the one in charge of the whole team. Good luck, Panthers.

  2. Hey Kellen, the Lions OC didn’t want this job for a reason…you’ll be working for a meddling owner worse than Jerry, because you have no QB (not that Dak is great) and no talent outside DJ Moore. Good luck, you’ll be back in Dallas in 3 years begging for your old job.

  3. Why?
I’m kind of joking, but also serious.
What has he done to merit a promotion to head coach? Because Dallas offence has underachieved despite having good talent for the bulk of his tenure.

  4. After the last play in Dallas’s playoff game? Seriously?? He showed his dark side, and it was UGLY!!!

  5. Considering Dallas’ dismal offensive scheme/performance against the 49ers, Kellen Moore should suffer the same fate as Eric Bienemy did after the Chiefs offense got dismantled in Super Bowl LV: A serious dip in interest for an OC job.

  6. I cannot believe nobody has not even thought about Brian Griese. When he was announcing games you could tell he had the knowledge and Kyle did not bring him in out of the booth for nothing. Currently he is the QB’s coach for SF and has been working with both rookies, and I would say he has done very well. If not for a head coach position at the very least he has earned a shot as offensive coordinator so the Jets and Titans should be asking about this one. We all know who his father was and he was a smart QB.
