Report: Patriots zero in on adding Adrian Klemm to offensive staff

The Patriots have already added Bill O’Brien to their coaching staff and appear to be close to adding another offensive assistant.

According to Mike Giardi of NFL Media, New England has zeroed in on Adrian Klemm to join their staff.

Albert Breer of SI.com reported that the Patriots would meet with Klemm for the second time.

Klemm just finished his first season as Oregon’s associate head coach, run game coordinator, and offensive line coach. Before that, he was with the Steelers from 2019-2021. He was the team’s assistant OL coach from 2019-2020 and the offensive line coach in 2021.

Klemm was a Patriots second-round pick in 2000, and appeared in 26 games with 10 starts for the club from 2000-2004. He then started eight games for Green Bay in 2005.

Giardi also notes that Klemm was making around $1 million as an Oregon assistant, so the Patriots will have a more expensive offensive staff with O’Brien and presumably Klemm in tow.

Matt Patricia served as New England’s offensive line coach and primary offensive play-caller last year. There’s been no word on how he’ll be reassigned for 2023, assuming he remains with the Patriots.

  1. I know he wasn’t that great in Pittsburgh but I still think this would be a great pickup for NE for the OL. Did a great job at Oregon.

  2. Patricia is NOT coming back next year he’ll be released shortly, and the old saying of ‘you get what you pay for’ fits perfectly here. The Patriots tried to get an offensive coordinator for free by not giving him that title, so that Detroit would be stuck paying him, and in return they got a garbage offensive coordinator who was clueless. A totally failed experiment that quite possibly ruined their young quarterback who looked like he was making progress in 2021, only to come back in 2022 and look about as bad as a starting quarterback can look. His attitude was also an issue, so hopefully this change can help right the ship for Mac. Otherwise it’s time to start searching again

  3. Next we should hear about bumps for incumbents (The Great) Troy Brown & Nick Caley and then more reports later about Camp Tranquility.

Super Bowl run just around the corner.

  4. I think he was better as an assistant line coach. Once he got promoted it he seemed to be in over his head.

  5. If Urban didn’t ruin Trevor than Patricia didn’t ruin Mac. God knows Urban tried. The AFC is going to be fun next year. Pats just need to fix special teams now.

Who thought Patricia and Judge would make good offensive coaches?

Umm, they both had prior experience on offense. LOL

    Wow.

Just because you haven’t done it for a while doesn’t mean you can’t. Clearly Patricia wasn’t good at implementing the new offense with a young QB.

  7. I think they should go get BOB’s buddy Doug Marrone for the OLine

  8. Despise the pats for all their cheating and owner and coach, but smart moves (finally after idiot coach hubris last year) and you can book bengals pats playoff.

I think that’ll be a real sign of where they’re headed. If Patricia were a player he’d have been sent away a long time ago. Yes, he sure knows how to wear a pencil and I’ve heard what a football encyclopedia he is, but what exactly does he add to the team? Nothing he’s been responsible for has ever been as good as the guys who did the job immediately before or after. They need accountability with the coaching staff, too.

It’s not being a traitor to the cause by telling the truth…they both suck at Off coordinator….it’s not hard actually it’s very mature.try it …go ahead I dare you….LOL

  11. In 7 losses of 2021 season, Pats offense scored average 19.57 points.
In 9 losses of 2022 season, Pats offense scored average 19.11 points.

Unless BeliCHEAP is willing to spend big to improve offense, nothing will change.
When those defenders of 30s are gone, Belichick the parasite will lose control of the lock room, and Patriots will implode.

Patriots are on the way to be a team of 6-7 wins.

  12. Despite how much I would like to trash Klemm … the Steelers were clinging on to Big Ben and the OL was at best, in transition.

You mean like McDaniels spent big on offense in Vegas and won less games than BB?

Just bring in a college offense for Mac Jones. That’ll fix it right?”

Not necessarily a college one, but one that’s more aggressive and takes advantage of the deep ball accuracy he showed in Alabama. Give him more options than handing it off or throwing behind the line of scrimmage.

  15. Speaking of “zero”, did you know that Tom Brady has ZERO winning seasons when he doesn’t have an elite coach? (Belichick HOF Lock, Arians HOF maybe, 2x NFL coach of the year)

Really makes you think doesn’t it. Maybe Tommy was never that good…

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Belichick the parasite is a master of feeding on lousy teams and inexperienced QB. I give you that.

  17. I think the Patriots were caught a bit flat footed last season on the coaching issue. They thought they could bring in O’Brien but then there was the issue of plucking him from Saban’s staff. Belichick thought he could survive a season with good coaches taking over the offense, but he underestimated how difficult that would be. Fast forward, BOB is hired and others are being interviewed. Patricia and Judge tried to do what was asked of them, as trusted assistants. It did not work well but are they to blame? Should people be saying bad things about them just because they tried to do the coach a solid? I doubt Belichick lets these guys twist in the wind for something he asked them to do. If they don’t have good opportunities elsewhere, BB will find a place for them to fit in and rehab the damage done to their reps, warranted or not. So, I’d lay off saying things you would not say if you were in the same room with these guys. Patricia especially, took a lot of heat, and never once broke. His attitude was always positive and he generally had a smile on his face. Most would have cracked under the emotional pressure. Kudos to him for maintaining his composure.

Don’t know what Belichick the parasite an elite coach, even Florio and Simm agree that he doesn’t know more about offense than Patricia and Judge.

Talking about ZERO, Belichick the parasite never won a divisional title as HC. He won ONLY WHEN others gave him offense, a definition of parasite.
