Nick Sirianni: Jalen Hurts is ripping it like any normal week

Quarterback Jalen Hurts has not been on the Eagles’ injury report this week but he is still dealing with a lingering injury to his throwing shoulder.

Nevertheless, he’s going to be on the field for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the 49ers.

Head coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged what Hurts is going through on Friday while also noting that the QB should be fine this weekend.

“He’s still getting treatment and stuff like that, but he’s ripping it like any normal week,” Sirianni said, via Dave Zangaro of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com.

Hurts was 16-of-24 passing for 154 yards with a pair of touchdowns in last week’s victory over the Giants. He also rushed nine times for 34 yards with a TD. We’ll see how he looks against the 49ers’ top-ranked defense on Sunday.

  1. He’s going to be the reason Niners lose.

Two close teams but his scrambling will be the X-Factor.

Oh and, of course, the fact that Shanahan always chokes.

  2. Can’t help but believe that the Eagles are going to win this one.

The Dallas game told me so. Dallas would’ve taken that game if Dak played even half as good as “good Dak” (still a low bar). And even on their best day, Dallas loses to Philly.

Dak played poorly BECAUSE of the Niners defense.

    ==============================

He led the league in INTs despite missing 5 games. That was before the 49ers game. His 2 INTs (and almost a 3rd-pick six) were the difference in game. Are you saying his INTs during the 49ers game are different than the picks he threw the rest of the season?

  4. Hater: “Oh and, of course, the fact that Shanahan always chokes.”

Do you have the slightest clue about how long Shanny would be out of a head coaching job if he weren’t doing it for the Niners? Over-under would be about 5 minutes.

  5. People thought Dallas was a juggernaut after rolling a listless Tampa team. Now the Eagles are a juggernaut after rolling a listless Giants team. We shall see on Sunday.

  6. “ Jalen Hurts doesn’t choke.”

Jalen Hurts was benched at halftime of the Narional Championship game due to poor performance, and was replaced by Tua.

Sirianni has a playoff record of 1-1, and was the OC of the 2018-2020 colts, who didn’t win anything.

We don’t know who’s going to choke, if anyone. That’s what makes this game exciting.

Agreed. Shanahan is a great coach. Schematically, no one is better. But he absolutely choked away the Falcons SB win over the Pats calling a pass on 1st and 10 from the Pats 30ish yd line with 8 minutes left. Three runs and a FG and that game is over but the resulting sack changed the game – everyone knows this. You can argue back and forth regarding the Chiefs and Rams losses but the Falcons loss might be the biggest choke in Super Bowl history and had Shanny’s fingerprints all over it (this assumes Matt Ryan didn’t change the play at the line of scrimmage which, I guess, is possible…).

Well unless, of course, that best day is December 24th, right?

You might be forgetting that Gardner Minshew started that game for Philly.

No one thought Dallas was a juggernaut after beating a terrible (shouldn’t have been in the playoffs) Tampa team.

And the Giants were good, but not great.

SF on the other hand trailed flipping Seattle at half and only beat the boys because of a dropped INT.

I get it. SF fans are nervous because every year they’re convinced they’re Super Bowl bound and every year their throats constrict.

  11. We do know who’s going to choke.

    Shanahan

Others might choke more or less and swing the game one way or another.

But Kyle has a very discernable track record of a constricting throat in the biggest games.

While Kyle cannot absolve all the blame but his OC job is to help the offense to score points. Dan Quinn the head coach has the veto power and in one of the mic’ed up clips, you can clearly hear Quinn talking to Kyle “Yes, go for it!” Quinn got greedy so instead of draining the clock, he wanted a blow out. It was the hubris that did them in.
