Patrick Mahomes: “I don’t think we have any cigars, but we’ll be ready to go at the Super Bowl”

USA TODAY Sports

Patrick Mahomes did it again. This time, mainly on one leg.

And Mahomes made it known after the game that it wasn’t easy for him to do it.

“I want to thank God, man,” Mahomes told Tracy Wolfson of CBS. “He healed my body this week to battle through that. He gave me the strength to be out here.”

Although more muted than his teammate, Travis Kelce, Mahomes made it clear that he was well aware of the “Burrowhead” talk.

“We showed this place that it’s Arrowhead, it’s not Burrowhead out here,” Mahomes said.

He also had something to say about the habit of Joe Burrow and his teammates of smoking victory cigars after big wins.

“I don’t think we have any cigars, but we’ll be ready to go at the Super Bowl,” Mahomes said.

Indeed they will. And maybe they should pack a couple of boxes of Montecristos for Arizona.

  1. NFL football = WWE sports entertainment. Both are equally entertaining, predetermined, and completely scripted.

  2. Bengals fan here that knew beating that team 4 times was nearly impossible. They still took ’’em to the wire and it took a super sloppy offensive series (intention grounding was the right call), bad punt coverage, missed holding calls on mahomes run, and a horrible penalty on ossai (again right call-dumb move). I have no idea if they’ll ever get this close again, but at least they showed they belong.

  3. Funny to see Bungles player sabotage any chance of winning, just like PacMan in 2016. Perhaps Burrow has a little too much arrogance for a guy who hasn’t won a Super Bowl yet?

  4. Has anyone ever seen a complete do over before ? I mean both teams were on the field for the punt … so you know who smoking cigars now (the refs)

  5. Mahomes ankle didn’t look healed. Looked like he toughed it out and will have to tough it out again in two weeks.

  6. I am a HUGE fan of Travis Kelce and I’m actually a Mahomes fan as well. But again my Eagles are just getting Disrespected again. First the Chiefs can smoke all the cigars they want but it won’t be a Victory cigar. Secondly, sick of already hearing San Fran lovers crying about their QB woes. QBs don’t play defence and the Eagle offence hung 31 on them and that saying the last 20 mins of the game they were NOT passing to kill the clock. Philly could’ve hung 40 on them if they passed more…San Fran had more Good Luck this year then bad. They FINALLY have a franchise QB VERY cheap for 3 more yrs..

  7. No shame in the game Bengals fans. Talking heads all want to anoint Bills/Chiefs as the rivalry for the next decade but it’s actually Bengals/Chiefs.

  8. It’s going to be a great Super Bowl. Definitely the matchup I was hoping for. A couple great subplots in this one. Kelce vs Kelce. Andy Reid against his former team. But most importantly…the two best teams in football. The way it’s supposed to be. I think the opening line says it all…1-1/2 point spread that isn’t likely to change that much.
