Kellen Moore will not be the Cowboys offensive coordinator next season, but he could land with another team.

NFL Media reports that the Chargers are expected to speak to Moore about their offensive coordinator vacancy. The Cowboys announced that Moore will not return for the 2023 season on Sunday.

Moore moved from playing for the Cowboys to being their quarterback coach in 2018 and he became their offensive coordinator the next year. The Cowboys ranked first in yards twice and first in points once during Moore’s four years on the job, but head coach Mike McCarthy is expected to take over play calling duties next season.

Rams quarterbacks coach/pass game coordinator Zac Robinson, Rams senior assistant Greg Olson, Vikings quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, Titans tight ends coach Luke Steckel, Rams assistant head coach/tight ends coach Thomas Brown, and Bills quarterbacks coach Joe Brady have also been linked with the Chargers since they fired Joe Lombardi.

  1. I’d sure like to hear why Mr Moore is being considered for such a high profile job. I can see Dr Jerry being fascinated by him but not a real GM. Maybe someone here can tell me.

  2. I say give Kellen his shot if he will take the job. He is proven as a very good OC. The Chargers season was unfortunately derailed and defined by one of the worst blown leads in NFL history. No one will forget the Jaguars overcoming the 27 point deficient and Trevor Lawrence coming of age. Who knows how much worse Dak would have been without Kellen calling the shots? Bring in Kellen, please.

Because the problem in Dallas wasn’t Moore. He was just another OC scapegoat this year. Add the impressive stats mentioned and that seems to make a reasonable case to interview him.

  4. Moore will shine iwith the Chargers if he takes the job. He will have Herbert who is 1000% better than Prescott.

  5. Not that Moore is great at his job, but it seems like a week ago he was a legit head coaching candidate. But this makes sense. He still is. Brandon Staley’s seat just got a little hotter.
