Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones says a big move could be coming in free agency.

“Don’t dismiss us doing something special with the right veteran free agent. Any place. I would in a New York minute if I think it fits,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com.

Jones didn’t name a specific free agent he had in mind, but he went on to say that he wants to build the kind of team that can win around Dak Prescott, and also win if Prescott gets injured again.

Jones also said the Cowboys’ interest in free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. remains as high as it was during the 2022 season, when the Cowboys were often linked to Beckham but he ended up going unsigned throughout the year as he continued to rehab his torn ACL.

  1. Just guessing it might be a WR or CB. But Jerry why don’t you try signing some of your 19 free agents first?

  2. He’s just referring to extending Dak. Another 10 years of futility.

  3. First thing he’ll do is bribe the NFLPA to produce a phony baloney report card, lol. What a joke.

  4. Whatever they do and whoever they get it will be called the greatest move ever and Dallas will once again be hailed as a Super Bowl favorite!!!! Only to choke in February like they always do!

  5. He said free agent. But I think he’s referring to a trade . Stefon Diggs perhaps. I hear Diggs is tired of losing and wants a winning organization. Cowboys have what 1, 2 playoff wins in 25 years, so Diggs will be happy, right?

  6. This has been Jerry’s mindset since he signed Deon almost 30 years ago. He is stuck in this delusion that he’s just one player away from winning it all. He simply can’t grasp the fact that his GM management style is no longer successful in the salary cap era.

  7. The Cowboys are snake oil. DO NOT get excited. Keep the receipt, the bill of goods will spoil in January. As usual. Regardless of what they say in the offseason

  8. The media is complicit in allowing Jones to market his team and keep it in the news as if they’ve just won the Super Bowl when the reality is that they haven’t won anything or been relevant for over two decades!

  9. Imagine what a real GM could have done over all these years? He surely would have more than 1-2 playoff wins in almost 3 decades. Do something special, Mr. Jones, and walk away.

  10. Cutting Dak would be Jerry admitting his mistake. What are the odds on that? Another over hyped Cooper perhaps? Or just too much scotch?

  11. He just can’t leave the spotlight even while the house lights are being shutting down.
    Sad , really sad .

  12. A sad, old rich man with huge ego. He will die without winning another Super Bowl.

  13. Selling the team to an owner that would hire a qualified GM would be special. Drafting a qb in the first round for the first time since 1989 would be awesome too Jerruh. That QB has 3 SB rings.

  14. Didn’t he just rip the Eagles for signing vets to get a title? Now he wants Beckham (expensive and incredibly overrated) and big time player X? What a fool.

  15. Shut up Jerry! You need to focus on that very embarrassing lawsuit filed against you!

  16. Ladies and gentlemen, the next QB of the Dallas Cowboys…

    Carson Wentz

  17. He’s talking about Jalen Ramsey, Saquon Barkley, Derek Carr or Aaron Rodgers. ‘Free agent’ could be semantics.

  18. Dallas would have won the Super Bowl if the refs didn’t cheat them against the 49ers. They would have rolled the Eagles and surely would have never fallen apart like the Eagles did. As far as I am concerned, they are the real best team in football.

  19. I dismissed the idea of the Cowboys doing anything special years ago. And while I wouldn’t classify this as “special,” Rodgers to Dallas or Houston makes sense. His views would align well with ownership in both places.

Not many people will say they’re the best team in football. Playoff time is choke time for the Cowboys.

  21. Until you admit that Dak is a more popular version of Kirk Cousins, it doesn’t matter who you sign as a FA…unless it’s Aaron Rodgers.
