Cowboys remain interested in Odell Beckham

Owner Jerry Jones said Friday the Cowboys could do “something special with the right veteran free agent.” Would receiver Odell Beckham still qualify as “something special?”

Beckham became a free agent a year ago and remains unsigned even as he’s returned to health from a torn ACL in Super Bowl LVI.

The Cowboys had interest in Beckham during the 2022 season, entertaining him in Frisco in December, but they did not sign him.

Jones, though, said the team remains interested.

“He’s somebody that I have the same kind of interest that I had in him during the season,” Jones said, via Todd Archer of ESPN.

Jones said he has had indirect contact with Beckham, including a visit with the receiver’s mother at the NFL Honors awards last month.

It is unclear whether Beckham will work out for teams now after declining to do so during the 2022 season.

Beckham, 30, last played in 2021 and made 44 catches for 537 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games — six with the Browns and eight with the Rams. His last Pro Bowl came in 2016 and his last 1,000-yard season in 2019.

The Cowboys do plan to add a veteran receiver to go with CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. They also could draft one.

  1. Being $7M over the cap and Dak having a $49M cap number (21% of the team’s cap), not going to be anything special until Dak gets a new deal and his cap number is lowered.

  2. He just flushed one line out the other article. The first post had everything you needed to know.

  3. If Arizona trades DHOP they need to try and sign Beckham in FA. AZ will have around $50M in cap space once they make a few moves (trading Hop, cutting Anderson, Golden, Gardeck alone creates $30M+ in extra space) to clear cap. If they get a 2nd n 4th for DHOP Hopefully they then push to sign Beckham n then draft Cedric Tillman or Marvin Mimms to pair with Hollywood , Rondale Moore n Greg Dortch giving AZ plenty of weapons at WR with Ertz n 2nd yr TE Trey McBride receivers at TE. Robert Woods could be a steal in FA to if u plan on drafting 1-2 WRs if u want to go with a cheaper option n build the defense up. Given how bad TNs QB situation was I think Woods has a few good seasons left in him.

  4. I’ve never seen a more avg player get so much coverage. Any other guy thats always hurt and hasn’t been a star in 8 years wouldn’t get this coverage.

Yeah because a Guy coming off 2 knee opps on the same knee would love to play on that skating rink.
