All eyes have been on whether the Jets will come to agreement on a trade before the start of the new league year and Thursday brought word that they have struck a deal, but it’s not the one everyone’s been waiting to see.

According to multiple reports, the Jets have agreed to acquire safety Chuck Clark in a trade with the Ravens. They are expected to send a 2024 seventh-round pick to Baltimore in exchange for Clark.

Clark started every game for the Ravens last season and recorded 101 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in the regular season. Clark started 61 games for the Ravens over the last four years and is set to join the Jets on the same day Lamarcus Joyner will become a free agent.

The Ravens will still have Marcus Williams and Kyle Hamilton on hand at safety. Trading Clark will clear over $4.1 million in cap space in Baltimore.

  1. Chuck Clark is good player. Very smart and underrated as far mastering the playbook, knowing all the calls all the time, and communicating the signals to the rest of the defense and especially the secondary. Good move by the Ravens to clear some cap space and good job by the Jets for acquiring a good, dependable and smart player. Win-Win.

  2. Mr. Clark is a gem of a football mind and player. He was so much fun to watch as a Raven and best of luck to him w/the Jets! The Bmore to NJ train keeps rolling 🙂

  3. Chuck Clark great player, very underrated. Takes no BS, stood up to Earl Thomas and ran his ass out of town and out of the NFL

  4. A starting safety for a 2024 7th rounder? A bargain. Ravens couldn’t afford him.

  5. Joe Douglas loves players from his former employer……feel free to pony up for #8 as well.

  6. The Jets got a deal on that trade. Clark is one of the better safeties in the league and a real team guy.

  7. Didn’t follow the Ravens closely, but would think someone who started every game would get more than a 7th round pick.

  8. Clark is a good box safety, but not great in coverage – especially deep. Stays healthy and a good guy on any team

  9. One of my favorite ravens. Even when he was backup.
Worth more than a 7th though. Maybe 5th or 6th. Jets won that trade.

  10. Loved Chuck, just surprised all they could get was a 7th rounder and not even this year. They would release him probably anyway, but still thought this is a little low for a high caliber starting safety

  11. The trade makes sense, but not for a 2024 7th round pick. I get it as a 2023 4th rounder, or a 3rd rounder if deferred to 2024. But a deferred 7th is way too low, I mean its like trading him for a ham sandwich.

    – Was a move to clear cap space and Jets knew it. Clark’s role was already suspect with Hamilton and it was just a matter of time, thus less value for him.

  14. A starting calibur safety for a seventh rounder. Well played by the Jets. Ravens just could not afford to keep him and the Jets knew it.
