Patriots broadcaster Scott Zolak says Tom Brady to Miami is in play

Add former Patriots quarterback and current Patriots broadcaster Scott Zolak to the list of people who aren’t convinced that Tom Brady is 100 percent retired.

Zolak said on NBC Sports Boston that the possibility of Brady playing for the Dolphins in 2023 is real.

Brady may go to Miami. I think that’s in play. I do. I think the possibility of him coming out of retirement is definitely 100 percent in play,” Zolak said. “You can sit there and look at the kitten tweet from yesterday. Don’t buy that.”

Zolak noted that several media people with connections in the football world are saying they’re hearing that Brady could play in the right situation.

“This isn’t me saying it,” Zolak said. “This isn’t someone close to Brady. It started with Rich Eisen. Eisen’s at the Super Bowl. Multiple people dropped the hints. Colin Cowherd, he knows some Fox people. I don’t think he’s gonna call games. How does that deal get done? How do you sign a guy to that $375 million, 10-year contract to call games, he’s not even gonna do it next year. I know his handlers have moved to Miami. It’s built for him. He’s looking at private schools for his kids. Cowherd talks about the San Francisco offense. He’s not talking about San Francisco. He’s talking about Mike McDaniel in Miami.”

Brady himself says he’s retired, but Brady also said he was retired last year before changing his mind. None of us knows for sure, and Brady himself may not know for sure, but there are plenty of people in and around the NFL who think that when Brady hits free agency on Wednesday, he may field some calls, and that if the right team calls with the right offer, he may accept.

  1. Well if Miami does this, Which I do not think they will.. its a year off of being a Miami fan. I just cannot and will not support this move.

  2. The AFC East will play NFC East and AFC West in 2023. I do not think any of those teams embrace the possibility of playing Allen, Rodgers, and Brady all in the same division.

  3. Why are you writers and media trying so hard to force the Brady unretiring angle when he’s made no indication that he wants to play?

  4. Without Gronk, Brady is Andy Dalton. Just look at last season. Good luck Miami.

kc will be fine, since they always seem to be home games.

  6. This definitely has the smell of a game of Telephone among the media. All it takes is somebody saying, “I wonder if X could happen?” and the next guys says, “People are talking about X happening.” and it’s off to the races.

  7. Can we bring this up when it doesn’t happen?

Will people get called out down the road?

  8. The idea that this is almost certainly his last chance to sign somewhere has to be a very compelling thing to grapple with. He may just be ready to kick back, but to play one more year right where his kids are seems like a hard offer to turn down.

  9. If he still had interest then why did he retire so early? He’s a free agent this year, if he had any doubts, he could have taken his time and thought about the options. Every time a QB gets injured this year, his name will pop up.

  10. Can Brady just go away along with his x-wife’s media blitz reintroducing herself as available to the world!

  11. Zolak loves the attention, especially when he doesn’t have to face BB weekly on Pats All Access. He’s a different guy during the season when doing that program. I wouldn’t put a lot of stock into Zolak. He’s speculating like all the rest.

Brady’s finished and the cap position MIami is in, is not a good one. Plus, that OL is horrible.

Brady has already tarnished his legacy, to do it again, would make it even worse. We all saw what TB looked like last year. They had holes everywhere, had some age and it collapsed, including Brady himself without Gronk and AB.

The final straw is the idea Miami already tampered with 3 different teams with a very light punishment. If Brady did do this, you’d have 3 teams demanding Goodell take more picks and take more money from Ross for spitting in the face of the original punishment.

    Not happening. The ship sailed.

  12. I don’t put it past him and his ego, but it’s silly. He’ll only be the third best QB in his own division after Rodgers goes to NY. He’ll just further tarnish his legacy.

  13. Brady may or may not come back, like everybody else, I don’t know. What I do know, is that is you are using Colin Cowherd as a source, you have no source. Although he is entertaining at times, he has no idea what he is talking about.

  14. Many old people retire in Florida. He tried Tampa, but maybe Miami is more to his liking. I‘m all for it, but if he likes the 49ers offense, he should probably go to SF and win an NFC Championship, because in the AFC he won‘t sniff any championship.

  15. Zolak has ensured, by making these comments, that he is no longer in the TB12 circle of trust.

It would be pretty funny if the Fins won the Super Bowl in that case.

  17. Brady playing for the Dolphins would be a great big middle finger at every Patriots fan. That he would even consider playing for the Patriota arch rival who every Patriot fan despises with a passion shows there still must be some bad blood between Brady and the Patriots

  18. we all want The Great One to play more, but the fish? just seems like the bottom of the barrel.

  19. And if he plays, true fans will be the better for it. We’ll get to see the greatest who’s ever played for another season; he’ll generate huge interest; with his return, the loaded AFC becomes a more compelling story; and if Aaron Rodgers alights in New York, we’ll get a double treat of perhaps the top two ever to play facing off and the AFC East, top to bottom, could be the best division in modern times. Bottom line: It’s all good.

  20. Tua doesn’t have senior citizen legs, and the Miami OL still got him concussed a half dozen times last year. But go ahead Tawmmy, I’m sure there’d be no problem.

If you are frustrated now, wait until he’s on TV every week for 20 years. lol

They had holes everywhere, had some age and it collapsed, including Brady himself without Gronk and AB.

    – was with you right up until you said Antonio Brown. Brown wasn’t a key aspect in the offense, at all. Godwin, Evans, Gronk, and then Miller, and to a lesser brate. I’m not sure why Brown would be included in any of that. Dude caught exactly 8 passes in 3 games in the playoffs. Heck, The water boy deserves more credit for the offense than Brown

  23. Brady may be washed up and “anonymous sources” may love attention(since they’re anonymous I’m not sure how that works though) but Brady’s ego is so big it makes the Real Housewives look humble so I don’t put this past him at all

  24. I think Brady retired just to get the media off his back and Miami makes sense with Tua being injury prone. Also I find it hard to believe Brady has physically declined.Has anyone really seen a play where he underthrew anyone or a DB jumped an out route from a weak throw? A normal player would be physically “finished” at his age but in case no one’s noticed Brady isn’t normal.

Stop the nonsense. You wouldn’t support Brady sticking it to your division rivals New England after the past 20 years? You wouldn’t support a potential Super Bowl victory in 50 years? What kind of fan are you then?

  26. Do it!

Watching him pout and cry his way to a losing season was entertaining. I’m ready for an encore! Lololol

  27. All I think about is Brady admitting he had gotten tired of getting hit. That makes me believe he’s not going to even think about a team without an impregnable O-line; in other words, he’s not going to be much interested in the Fins unless they work some magic in free agency and the draft.

Just seeing what’s been going on in his personal life in recent weeks, I’m doubtful he’s going to play for anybody in 2023, except for the slight possibly he joins a team during the season when it loses its #1 QB. Gisele Bundchen is revving up her career to a much more active level, which means Brady needs to be available as primary caregiver to the kids much more of the time. I think he takes that seriously, and it’s not something you just brush aside no matter how much you think you can still play.

  28. This is silly. The Bucs and Brady were difficult to watch last year. I would stick with Tua rather than any version of the post 2021 Brady

  29. Zolak doesn’t know anything and now wears sunglasses 24/7 so you don’t see how clueless he is!

    ======================

Why would the Phins need Brady to do that when Tua is 4-0 versus the Pats? Not to mention that the Phins have already stated that they have no interest in chasing a starting caliber QB but thry are looking for a replacement back-up.

  31. I’d welcome it. The AFC East isn’t quite the same as when he left. If he thinks he can come back and dominate like he did when he was with New England, he might be in for a bit of a surprise.

  32. Imagine actually thinking Brady in 2023 makes any team a Super Bowl contender 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  33. This is silly. The Bucs and Brady were difficult to watch last year. I would stick with Tua rather than any version of the post 2021 Brady.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It is all on if his receivers can see what he sees, so that he can get rid of balls quickly to avoid pass rush. There were no such receivers in Bucs.

  34. OK all this talk about Brady being the cause of Tampa Bay’s Poor/results:

    1. His O-line was very shaky, and lots of injuries.
    2. His receivers were banged up.
    3. Coaching was an issue this year.
    4. Brady’s stats showed no drop off, NONE.
    5. Lack of a running game.
    6. The defense dropped off this year.
    7. His arm power and release time did not drop off.

  35. It would be great to see Brady smoke the Pats twice a year. I would say three times but 4th place in the AFC East probably won’t get the Pats in the playoffs.

    —-
Brady has a lower career passer rating against Bill’s defense than Tim Tebow and Brian Hoyer have. Lolololololololololol

Cheatin’ Tom has just as much of a chance to smoke the Pats twice a year as he has winning seasons without elite coaching.

    ZERO.

Zip, Nada, none, nil, zilch, if you will.
