Allen Lazard hopes to learn Aaron Rodgers’ decision before starting free agency

Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard becomes an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday. He’d love to find out where Aaron Rodgers is going to be in 2023 before that.

Lazard developed a good chemistry with Rodgers during their time together in Green Bay and would consider Rodgers’ status one of the factors in making his own decision, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Rodgers has said he’ll make his decision soon. The strongest possibility appears to be a trade to the Jets, but it’s also possible he could stay with the Packers, play elsewhere, or retire.

There’s no guarantee Lazard will play with Rodgers, whether with the Packers or the Jets, and if Lazard gets a great offer from another team he’ll surely take it. But it would be helpful for Lazard if Rodgers could make up his mind soon.

Lazard is the No. 36 player on our list of the Top 100 free agents.

  1. Lazard would look good in Cardinal red as a #2 opposite Hollywood while a young guy develops. Hope AZ is looking at him as a possible replacement for DHOP this year. Lazard isn’t a true #1 but he’s still plenty good enough as a big playmaking X boundary outside WR.

  2. I don’t envy anyone who’s tying their decision process to that of Aaron Rodgers!
Lazard needs to wise up and just head into today with the goal of getting paid, he deserves it!

  3. anothe gb draft and development failure. train, coach em, dump em, draft anew and start over

  4. That certainly doesn’t make a lot of sense considering the constant narrative the Barneys always push, that all of Rodgers’ teammates “hate him”.
Also why is Aaron Jones on the national sports shows thumping for his QB’s return.
Hmm….something doesn’t quite ring true in all this. 🤔

  5. No reason both the pack and jets cant just say, youve had your time, we all ant answer by Wednesday or we make plans without you.

  6. Lazard prefers to be with AR. Aaron Jones does not want AR to leave. Many other Packers players have expressed similar sentiments. It seems that Aaron Rodgers teammates believe that he is a good guy. Perhaps the trolls who are constantly bashing AR should take notice.

  7. Allen is an outstanding young man but shouldn’t believe that Aaron Rogers would care a bit that his stalling and avoiding making a decision would impact his teammates.

  8. It’s no secret love has been stinking up the joint in practice. Chalk it up as another horrible draft pick.

They don’t hate him…they need him to look good so they get paid and without him, they’ll be exposed

  10. Allen Lazard was given a career when Green Bay plucked him off of a practice squad and gave him a home.

  11. Lazard is a nice complimentary WR. Great blocker on screens. He’s not a #1,… maybe not even a #2. He’s a good locker room guy too. I’d like to see him stick around but I don’t think that’s gonna happen this year.

    ____________

Lazard was not drafted. He was originally signed by the Jags as an undrafted free agent.

Even Lazard knows how bad the Love era is going to be….
    __________

Lazard and the Packers are clearly moving on from each other, why would he even care how good or bad Jordan Love’s going to be?

  14. Packer brass seems to be sold on Jordan Love. I’ll trust their judgment over that of any couch potatoes. He could very well be the next seventeen-year HOF starting quarterback for the Packers, following Starr, Favre, and Rodgers. You can’t say with certainty it won’t happen. It could, it might, but you can’t say with certainty it won’t.

  15. Unfortunately for Mr. Lazard, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t care about who is waiting on his decision, including his own team mates (or former team mates). In his mind, he is the center of the universe.
