DJ Moore: It’s going to be real special in Chicago

Wide receiver DJ Moore officially became a member of the Chicago Bears on Wednesday afternoon.

The new league year got underway at 4 p.m. ET and the Bears and Panthers wasted little time officially announcing the trade they agreed to last week. The Bears are sending the first overall pick in this year’s draft to Carolina for Moore, the ninth overall pick, the 61st overall pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick.

We don’t know who will be selected with any of those draft picks, but Moore can start preparing for life with his new team now. Moore said that it “means a lot” that the Bears wanted him as part of the deal.

“It’s going to be real special,” Moore said, via the team’s website. “I’m glad to be a part of the groundwork that’s being laid. And to just build that foundation of winning, it’s going to be something special.”

Quarterback Justin Fields also weighed in on a deal that should benefit him through Moore and other additions to come in the future.

“I’m excited to add a guy like DJ to our offense,” Fields said. “He’s proven he can be an explosive playmaker in this league, and I look forward to getting to work with him and the rest of our receivers so we can take the next step as an offense. I’ve gotten to know him a little bit and I know he’s ready to put the work in to help our team win. I can’t wait to get our whole group on the field together and see how we can put it all together.”

The Bears will keep working on putting that team together and the group will get their first chance to get on the field together in a few weeks.

  1. This won’t end well…with top RB Fields tossing the rock, nothing could go wrong. LMAO

  2. Skill positions are now in place for Da Bears. It is literally all about the OL for offense from this point going forward. No more money or draft picks allocated for the offense should go anywhere but OL until the 4th round. Ideally they would bring in a little more depth at RB and a solid TE2 would be nice but until that OL is drastically upgraded nobody else on that unit will be doing much of anything.

  3. I don’t care what anyone says, Poles is getting things done in Chicago and he seems to be doing it the right way. He’s not going fill all the Bears gaps in one offseason, but he’s bringing in legit talent with a history of performance and heath.

  4. It is the right time of the year to make big claims. But here’s reality. That franchise QB he is joining up with in Chicago averaged 148 yards passing per game. Lots of guys have come into the league without the best O-line or receivers, but when was the last time they averaged less than 150 yards passing a game? Even Tim Tebow averaged more!

Chicago EARNED the first overall pick. Their QB play was terrible. And they just threw away a chance to get an actual franchise QB. #epicfail

  5. Moore is a great addition to the Bears. He’s young and proven and will be a great asset for Fields who likes to sling the ball deep.

The whole RB comment is played out. If you’re an athletically gifted QB and you’re playing behind a leaky line and throwing to below average WR’s what should you do? Stand there and get hit or take off when pressured and give your team the best chance to win? The answer is easy for most fans.

  7. Let’s see who falls to them at 9. Regardless of GM, Bears have a history of finding OL in the later rounds. It would not shock me if they went WR with Johnston or Smith-Njigba, or even RB with Robinson, at 9 but it would make more sense to go for an EDGE. I can’t say I wouldn’t be disappointed if they picked Carter. Based on his pro day it sounds like he pulled up lame and couldn’t finish. Not a good sign adding onto his legal problems. I’d like to see them pass on Carter.

  8. Whats going to special about a WR who gets 500 yards recieving a year and is expected to run block every 2 out of every 3 downs.

  9. They’ll probably overpay for Orlando before they realize their QB can’t read a defense and will just run until he’s done

  10. Gotta love the guy for giving Bears fans some hope. I don’t see a lot of promise there for the next couple years unless they run Fields nearly every play. That’s all they had.

  11. LOL Justin Fields is a running back bro. He cannot throw from the pocket. It’s going to be worse than it was in Carolina.

  12. His days of being a 1,000 yard receiver are gone in Chicago.

  13. People writing Fields off are simply trolling or they’re ignorant. It is going to be really special and so far the Bears are doing everything right. I’m a Niner’s fan by the way.

  14. Now we will see if Fields is the real deal or not. With the Bears signing O-linemen and offensive weapons, the excuses will be over.

  15. I think the Bears are on the right track, they certainly are winning the off season. Let’s see if they can make Fields a top QB in the league. Still a lot of work to be done, but the Bears certainly seem to have a very bright future.

I don’t disagree with criticism of Fields throwing. I disagree with the assessment any of these draft QBs are sure things or any better than Fields.

  17. Lol Only if Chicago trades for a top level QB or one falls to them in this draft because Fields so far isn’t even mid level!

  18. It’s obvious that there are a lot of haters out there. People just don’t want to give Justin Fields a break. The kid was the best there was in high school, pretty damned good in college. So with the same offense for more than one season he just might light it up and be in the running for MVP….. Once he gets an O-line and some real weapons. Watch out. Ryan Poles is doing the right things to make it come to fruition. Go Bears.

Fields single handedly kept the Bears in almost every game last season with no defensive help, no OL, no WRs……but yeah go ahead and make stupid comments about a rising star in the NFL.

Except for this is 2nd off-season and his 1st lead to Chicago being the worst team in the NFL.
