It was expected that the Eagles would release cornerback Darius Slay on Wednesday. They didn’t.

Now comes news from Josina Anderson of CBS Sports that Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman is working to find a way to keep Slay.

The sides have yet to reach a contract resolution.

Slay is entering the final year of his contract with a base salary of $17 million and a cap hit of $26.1 million, which led to talks with the Eagles about a new deal.

A post-June 1 designation would create $17.5 million in cap space with an $8.6 million dead cap hit.

Slay, 32, earned his fifth career Pro Bowl in 2022.

The Eagles re-signed cornerback James Bradberry to a three-year, $38 million deal on Tuesday.

  1. Two takeaways:

Don’t believe most of the nonsense that seems to be everywhere this time of year.

Never play poker with Howie Roseman.

  2. Roseman continues to push the right levers.
It’s like they’re never really really gone, ’til they’re really really gone.

  3. Someone in the front office botched this whole thing up. With the Patricia rumor, he’s going, now he’s staying seems Howie’s shop took their eye off the ball.

  4. LOVE IT! Now, find a way to get CJGJ inked and fill the rest through the draft

  5. Whaaaaaaa!!!! Never seen this in 25 years….he’s cut…then wait he’s back

  6. If this gets done and they bring back CJ, Roseman is Executive of the Year already. The Hurts extension will be long, like Mahomes. Spread the guarantees out and continually restructure to give flexibility.

  7. Roseman has to be considered the top GM in the league. No terms disclosed, but a longer deal was the key. Looks like the market wasn’t as strong for the aging CB as Slay thought. Banana pudding for everybody.

The Eagles need to extend Hurt’s now. 1 Billion over 20 years.

Howie doesn’t give dumb contracts like Jerry Jones does. Give our best to Zeke please.

The Eagles will be lucky to win 8 games next season.

Aww, hang in there little guy. Your Cowboys will possibly get to the Super Bowl sometime this century. Maybe….
