A day ago, it appeared Darius Slay was on his way out. He even thought so, announcing his release Wednesday morning.

Today, he has a two-year, $42 million contract extension with the Eagles, NFL Media reports.

Slay wanted to stay, and the Eagles wanted him to stay, so the sides found a way to make it happen.

He was entering the final year of his contract with a base salary of $17 million and a cap hit of $26.1 million, which led to talks with the Eagles about a new deal to lower his cap number for 2023.

Slay, 32, earned his fifth career Pro Bowl in 2022 when he made 55 tackles, three interceptions and 14 passes defensed.

The Eagles also managed to re-sign cornerback James Bradberry, who agreed to a three-year, $38 million deal. Bradberry made second-team All-Pro.

  1. Wow, $30 mil for two corners. Problem is you need about four of them in the league now.

  2. Eagle’s getting older daily. Let all the young talent go and signed all of their past their prime vets. But howie is a genius so who can argue with that. Won’t sniff the sb next yr.

  3. LOL, TJ Edwards, Kyzir White, and Marcus Epps were not talent. They were average players at best. Hargrave is a very good player but he’s going on 31 as well. As for getting younger? That’s what picking 10th and 30th is for.

  4. Love the haters comments here. Guarantee they go CB in the top 10, they very well could package some picks to move up and get Devon Witherspoon, but Christian Gonzalez would do just fine as well. You will see them draft heavy on defense, Cox, Graham, Slay will not be on the 2024 roster, their replacements will be drafted next month

  5. I see the haters are out in full force. We get it, your teams is a dumpster fire so you want to try and drag others down. And it hurts you even more that the Eagles have two first round draft picks too.

Maddox is the slot corner, and word just dropped that the Eagles are signing Greedy Williams.

If Howie gets CJGJ back the haters will be really salty.

Kick that can! Kick that can! lol

Correct. Because that is what a team is supposed to do while the Super Bowl window is open and the salary cap keeps going up.

  8. CBs no matter how good can’t cover forever..dline a lot older and lost a big piece

  10. Slay, Bradberry, Maddox and Greedy Williams ? Considering it’s looking more and more likely they will resign CJ Gardner Johnson, forget about throwing the ball on them next year

  11. Deal is basically until end of next season. , Guy’s still got it but maybe not after next season. I like this re-signing

  12. @ winged warrior……why are you excited about greedy Williams. He is terrible in zone and has a pff grade of 52. He was a backup in Cleveland and hurt all the time. He has name but no game.
