Wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie is now a free agent.

The Bills announced McKenzie’s release on Friday. McKenzie was due a roster bonus this weekend and parting ways with the veteran wideout saves the Bills just over $2.7 million in cap space.

McKenzie joined the Bills during the 2018 season and appeared in 68 regular season games for the club. He had 137 catches for 1,316 yards and 11 touchdowns while also running the ball 46 times for 226 yards and four touchdowns.

In seven playoff appearances, McKenzie added 13 catches for 95 yards and eight carries for 53 yards. He caught one postseason touchdown.

Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Khalil Shakir, and the newly signed Deonte Harty are now at the top of the receiver depth chart in Buffalo.

  1. All the best to him. He had some really memorable games for the Bills.

Harty is an upgrade; better hands & faster. I’d expect the Bills to add one more WR in FA or the draft. Still hoping Davis can return to form, but they need to shore up WR2 just in case.

  2. I wish him success wherever he lands, and appreciate his contributions these last couple years. With some more ball control discipline he’ll be just fine.

  3. I like McKenzie but he didn’t step up last year. Probably go to an AFC East team tho

  4. Likeable guy, and seems like his teammates loved him too. But it’s a business decision. He had the opportunity to step into a bigger role last year and didnt take it.

  5. He’s a good guy and teammate. Wishing him luck wherever he lands! Looking forward to Shakir getting the ball more.

  6. If he isnt on a plane to Foxboro the Patriots are missing out on a player who could be a big contributor for them, and a thorn in Buffalo’s side

  7. That cap hall just starts to creep in slowly, but surely even after all the restructures.

  8. Sounds like Bills fans feelings about losing McKenzie are similar to NE fans feelings about Jakobi Meyers. But, they could still do a new contract for him that is more cap friendly, though it did not appear he was breaking the bank. Cap magic happens all the time.

  9. I was in a cap hall one time. Just a bunch of hats…Bowlers, Fedoras, Ten Gallons…
