Odell Beckham, Jr. seems to indicate he’s been offered only $4 million per year

As mentioned earlier in the day, any free agent who remains available this far into the process likely has overshot his market. Among those is receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

And while he seems to dispute the perception that he had indeed overshot the market, he definitely seems to think he’s being lowballed.

“I’m just so confused where the quote is from me tht said I want 20…..😭🙄all I’m sayin is 4 AINT enough,” Beckham tweeted.

Multiple reports have indicated he has been looking for $20 million per year. Obviously, that’s not something Beckham would ever say directly to teams; his agents would be the ones to make the request.

Maybe they’re looking for $20 million to get teams up to $15 million. Regardless, nothing seems to be getting teams to go higher than $4 million.

Beckham worked out eight days ago for any interested teams. A dozen showed up. Since then, he’s been talking to teams. And he apparently doesn’t like what he’s been hearing.

A $4 million offer definitely seems low, especially if it’s not coupled with an incentive package that would allow Beckham to make a lot more if he plays well. The overriding question continues to be whether he’ll take a one-year deal, prove himself again, and hope to get something much more than $4 million per year in 2024.

  1. Well if we are all being honest, look at his stats ever since he left the Giants. He barely had more then 400 yards in a season.
He isn’t even worth 4M IMO.

  2. I don’t know if I like his strategy here. Let’s say he’s actually looking for 15-16. By revealing he’s being offered 4 suggests a team could offer him 8 now, twice as much as he’s been offered but half of what he’s seeking. Seems like he’s showing his hand a little too much

  3. $4 million is about right for a guy who has played one complete season in the last six years.

  4. Nobody given you 20M. Healthy WRs aren’t getting that and you got a busted leg and walk with a limp

  5. Why would you offer him more? He’s coming off another catastrophic knee injury. He just worked out for a dozen teams. Don’t you think that if he looked anything like the old OBJ he’d be signed? He’s no longer in his prime. He’s no longer a 1000yd receiver. Why would a team pay more than 4mil per?

  6. Can someone kindly break the news to him that the 4M offer is fair value for him at this point?

  7. 4 million seems right, problem is when NFL players devalue usually it’s because of age but sometimes it’s what goes on with a player and how he seems to be as a person. Coming off a major knee injury is one thing but when you say things like you’re waiting for the playoffs to begin before selecting a team to go to-Odell Beckham doesn’t understand he threw the team, the organization and everybody under the bus!

  8. I understand DeMaurice Smith thinks it is criminal collusion. He should be getting 3 years $50MM fully guaranteed.

  9. he is a 1 trick pony these days. a 3 or a 4 WR that doesnt play Special Teams. he will be a malcontent .. BUYER BEWARE !!!

  10. Odell is a victim of his own making. There’s no one else to blame. And yes, we know that writers make up stories out of whole cloth.
But Beckham has been a part-time player for the last few years.

  11. He’s been washed since he left the Giants. I don’t think I’d even pay 4m for him. He’s a cancer and always injured. The guy parlayed a few circus catches into a big contract and then proceeded to do nothing.

  12. That’s the great thing about America. If you don’t want to play for $4m, you don’t have to. Free will.

  13. At this point from here on Out, Beckham is a one year deal at a time player until he can prove he can go out there and play 17 games. 4 mill a year with incentives sounds right in the wheelhouse of what he should be making considering his penchant for injuries and failing to play a full season.

  14. The market sets the price. Clubs obviously think he is worth about 4 million. He can take the best offer or sit. It’s his choice.

  15. Michael Thomas, who hasnt played in 2.5 yrs, just got $10/yr….+ incentives.

OBJ is better and healthier than MT.

  16. Dude! No one is paying you for what you did before. The contract value is all about what you will do for a team in the future. Considering age, general wear and tear, and injjury history, the message is you are no better than a second round pick. Remember your value is the cost to replace.

  17. Given that he has averaged just under 9 games a season since 2016 (and MUCH less in most years) that seems a pretty fair number for a WR who will turn 31 this season. But he will probably get someone to give him $6-8M. Which was assuredly the goal. He can’t REALLY believe that he is gonna get $10M or more. MAYBE on an incentive laden prove it deal, but other than that? This is the market, OBJ.

  18. He wants a more guaranteed, less prove it contract. Like his “I’ll work out once, but I don’t need to prove anything” approach to FA, he truly appears to not understand his current situation.

He will have a disrespected chip on his shoulder and will be gunning for the league this coming season. Whomever he ends up signing with will likely get a better version on him. Whether his body complies is the team risk and the crux of the issue.

  19. $2MM deal and then incentive for not being a whiny baby or diva within even just the first 6 weeks, and he gets another $10MM…but he wouldn’t sign that because he’d never see that $10MM.

  20. We are beginning to see some of the unintended effects of the rat poison peddled by the liberals on athletes. “Collusion, You have earned it, It is,without doubt, racist, etc.” Such wedge issues have seeped into the gray matter of many that they have lost all, if they had any in the beginning, of their higher intellect. Bro, keep quiet, let your agent(s) handle it and continue to work on your craft.

  21. About 4 million too much for someone that’s going to shred his knee again the first time he makes a game speed cut.

  22. I appreciate the combination of self delusion and sheer audacity he has. As it turns out, speaking something does not bring it into existence. Take the 4 million, add it to the 81 million you’ve already earned in your career, and if you stay healthy and produce someone will give you more next year. Much like NFL teams don’t throw around guaranteed contracts, they also don’t overpay for oft injured players on the wrong side of 30.

  23. There are better and younger and less injury-prone guys all over the place, and a lot more coming in the draft.

Most of Beckham’s financial success has come from an exaggerated image of his actual impact, which isn’t much at all. Every team he’s been on has had more success without him on the field.

At this point he’s a novelty that most teams would see no reason to have in a roster for a whole season. Late-season pickup, maybe, though I expect he’ll be an afterthought by late next season.

  24. OBJ is going to have to get an incentive laden contract. He deserves nothing else.

  25. He’s fortunate to get that. Take the 4 and ask for another 4 in incentives and/or a void of future years if he makes the pro bowl.

  26. If you want to understand one of key problems in today’s NFL, look at the statement OBJ makes.

Nice to see the players in the XFL just go out and play without whining about how they all deserve more.

  27. 4 mil is a lot of money for a receiver of his age and injury history. 4 million is more than Jarvis Landry and TY Hilton made COMBINED last season and both have been more reliable more recently than OBJ. Seems a lot of names are finding out this off-season that they aren’t as big a deal as they thought they would be on the open market.

  28. Good. done with you. You’ll never get that BIG contract again. Ball out or shut up. You were never ALL THAT you diva itch.

  29. He is worth only what a team owner will pay and no more. OBJ needs to get with Jackson and look in the Mirror.OR perhaps he also don’t have a agent. Bill

  30. If I was OBJ and wanted to resurrect my career I would ask the play on something like this:

    1 million base

With incentives for yards and touchdowns.
If I have a big year those incentives will pay me an extra 20 million

  31. The problem with “multiple media reports” is that in the era of twitter and speed over facts, one person saying something without any corroboration gets echoed, so it’s really just one person making a claim and ton of others running with it as though it was fact. That’s not what confirming a source is or should be.

  32. Nobody in the history of the NFL has got more out of ONE CATCH 9 YEARS AGO. please go away and quit talking. If a team really did offer that go ahead and take it and then be happy.

  33. just so some of you know, there are 14 guys making 20m per or more, 9 of whom are 23m or more per. so while OBJ is not worth that figure at the moment, there certainly are plenty of guys making that kind of money at his position. Best option is to offer a gt’d 4 m and escalators dependent on availability, not production that can amount to a total of maybe 12 max. Team based escalators might be good too, X amt for reaching afc/nfc champ game, some for SB and of course more for a W in said games- that way he is not just trying tofill the stat sheet to get to his personal escalators

  34. Baker mayfield dad says you stink!
4 mil, that’s way too much than he deserves! $20 and a 40 ounce of Colt 45 a game max!!!
I personally think he was NEVER any good to begin with!
Hope he’s insulted, he just needs to go away!

  35. Two ACL surgeries, a fractured ankle and multiple fines from the league for mostly being a pain the rear and you are 30 years old with your best years behind you. You should be happy if anyone offers you league minimum!

  36. OBJ is a rental … most teams will draft a WR in the third round , and the rookie deal is a bargain
OBJ has a two major knee reconstructs
    5 million?

  37. He better be careful. If he signs with anyone too soon, he’ll be expected to participate in OTA’s and training camp.

  38. It seems like life is coming at Mr. Beckham fast. Everyone but him realizes he’s not the star athlete he once was.

  39. LOL dude leads with his emotions. Why would you ever disclose that???? These dudes are great athletes and horrible businessmen.

  40. Sorry but as the song goes…”you can’t always get what you want”. Welcome to the real world…if you want to play you are gonna have to lower your salary expectations.

  41. Since 2020 he has averaged 7 GP, 27 catches, 300 yard and 1 TD. If he is smart he would take the money and run.

  42. Reality is a bear. The gravy train is over. Hope you saved yours OBJ. He milked one great catch for long enough.

  43. My guess is that it’s a base salary of 4 million with heavy incentives based on number of games played and yards achieved or personal accolades such as a probowl appearance or playoff games played.

  44. I agree with the overall opinion that he’s obviously not a big-time receiver. Even he probably knows that. If healthy though he could still be a pretty good wr3. Also, Ive never heard a teammate or coach ever say anything bad about him. Actually, his former teammates and coaches always said the exact opposite. He’s a little nutty but he certainly never came off as a cancer in the locker room. Thats not accurate at all.

  45. You only sign a guy like this when you’re desperate and nobody else is available. It’s March. Nobody’s desperate.

  46. Whatever the veteran minim is what he’s worth and even at that price I’d be mad if my team signed him for that price. I hear the Jets might be stupid enough to sign you go call them .

  47. If multiple teams offer you 4 mil a year, you’re worth 4 mil a year. Period.

  48. He’s still trying to trade on one catch from 8 years ago where his team lost the game. Good luck, sir.

  49. He should take it before he blows out his knee again in practice/pre-season. Sorry, but that’s who he is now…fragile ex-superstar.

  50. I’d like to know who actually offered him 4 mil. Can’t really see it as he hasn’t done much in the last 6 years. It’s not about what you think you are but actual performance on the feild for an entire season

  51. It’s bee 5yrs since OBJ got more that 320yds in a season, he’s 30YO and coming off of a major knee injury and reconstructive surgery, let that sink in for a while!
    [
Better take that $4mil, that’s the biggest offer you should get!

  52. So the ability to run, jump and catch trumps a skilled physician whom specializes in heart surgery. Understanding that sometimes medical care is very overpriced…Not sure where we are going. Watch this idiot on the plane forcing the whole plane to debark because he was too hungover.

    ————————————————————-
One is a cancer and the other player is not. Huge difference.

  54. 4 ain’t enough lol almost like Latrell Sprewell saying “I have a family to feed” after turning down 21 million.

  55. Take the $4 million, but add incentives for catches, yards, TDs etc. If he hits all his targets he gets the $20 million.

  56. Rodgers should take $20 mil pay cut so Jets can afford him and the players he demanded.

  57. 4 million dollars is a gift…sign it with incentives…like play at least 75% of the games and actually put up some numbers on a 1 year deal and then get a bigger contract next season
Teams are leary about paying big bucks for a receiver that spends more time on the IL than actually suited up for real games

  58. 4 Million seems about right to me. He’s had that same knee operated on twice. He should take a one year deal to prove he can get through an entire season. I know no one is guaranteed to play all year, but no one is going to pay big bucks for a receiver with his medical history that may or may not be able to play an entire year.

  59. In all seriousness. This should be easy to push to the finish line. Never make negotiations public like this though. Darius Slayton deal is now the comp instead of Jacobi Meyers.

  60. I’ll take it. I just hit 70 years old…but I’m not coming off an injury.

  61. This guy has been useless for years. $4 million is way too much for a loud mouth diva that doesn’t produce on the field and is also typically on IR.

  62. STRAIGHT TO BUFFALO…..$6.50 per year laced with incentives $250K per TD $250K 1000+yds $500K 70rec.

  63. Maybe his dad will post some film footage of him & explain why his Son is the only one who believes he deserves more!

  64. I disagree, 4 mil for three years is a good deal.He Odell, as Yogi said, when you come to a fork in the road, take it.

  65. Maybe try the market for luxury watch modelers, though not sure they make $4 million.

Real spiritual people do not refer to others as peddling rat poison or talk about wedge issues. Real spiritual people are compassionate towards all segments of society.

  67. He’s Lamar Jackson. If Lamar sucked and played for 20 team with a bad attitude.

  68. not sure who got more mileage out of one big play:
obj making a “miraculous” catch with gloves covered in stick ’em or clowney jumping offsides uncalled and blowing up that d3 kid in the backfield.

  69. If you watch the video from last fall where he got kicked off the airplane this makes sense. He is clearly still a head case who parties too much. At some point these teams are realizing that signing a nut job just isn’t worth it.

  70. His long term high paying days are probably behind him. I would be surprised if anyone sees him as more than a one season helper. If he was at the top of any teams shopping list he would already be signing. Rodgers may strong arm the Jets into overpaying for him but that seems like his only real chance

  71. Must you all have a myopic viewpoint on everything? Entertainers and ball players make a lot of money compared to your 9 to 5. Odell makes 10 million plus a year in endorsements. Why would you play for 4 million a year? That would be dumb. He should command more.

  72. If no one us offering him more than 4 mil…sounds like that is indeed his market value. You’re worth whatever someone will pay you.

  73. He better take that 4 mil and realize he’s about 3 mil over-paid. They don’t pay you for what you did in the past. “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?… Oh Oh Oh ODEL.”

  74. After seeing that video of him on a commercial flight and the bad knees who would possibly want him?

  75. “I don’t know if I like his strategy here. Let’s say he’s actually looking for 15-16. By revealing he’s being offered 4 suggests a team could offer him 8 now, twice as much as he’s been offered but half of what he’s seeking. Seems like he’s showing his hand a little too much”

See, you’re not looking at it right.

1.) He may never have been offered $4m.

2.) He might LOVE to get $8m.

    His strategy is simple.

Privately anchor his ask at $20m.

    Publicly state $4m isn’t enough.

Get a team to come in at $8m, counter with $12m, split the difference at $10m per year over 2.

    ___________

You and I agree on almost every issue. However, I guarantee you that Odell is not making $10 million a year in endorsements. No football player, not even Brady or AR, makes that much. The general public vastly overestimates how much endorsement deals are worth.

  77. Sounds like your definition of collusion. A player demands to be paid a certain amount and no owners will even give him a sniff.

You call this collusion in the Lamar threads.

The rest of us call it the market speaking.

    *****

Cool. Then we agree there is no collusion, yes?

    That’s the point.

    The market is working.

  81. Florio should remember this from 1st year Contracts–fair market value is whatever someone is willing to pay. OBJ’s FMV is $4 million or less. He doesn’t get it, because he thought he was right about what he did on that plane.

  82. If he would start catching the ball with both hands a coaching staff would be much happier with him. His little workout circus act with one handed catches is only good for one thing and that is for tik tok or you tube. Professional football WRs are supposed to use both hands at all times when catching the football when possible. Using just one hand is fine in a situation when you can only get one hand free. But doing a workout and only using one hand further proves he is a show off more than anything else.

  83. Aw pooooooor BABY. 4M isn’t enough? I just drove by a freeway overpass with people living under it. You comments are way out of line.

  84. Geez if that’s all he’s been offered I can’t believe AZ isn’t prioritizing getting a deal done with OBJ. Offer him $7.5M/GTD’d with performance escalators that allow him to make another $5-$6M.. if he hits 90 receptions/1000k YDs he hits a $4M bonus, if he hits 7 or more TDS another $2M bonus. If no one’s offering more than $4 them $7.5 with incentives would look pretty attractive.
Then ship Hopkins off and your WR corps would be set going into the draft and you’d have an excellent bridge at WR while you develop a guy you draft or just wait to next year to draft another #1 and just draft another #2 type a la Marvin Mimms n RD3 of the draft. If you could get a deal done you’d have an excellent WR corps next year with the talent you already have. Hollywood is going to go off this year being in a contract yr n 100% healthy, before breaking his foot last year he was a top 5WR statistically on pace for 120recs n 1500+YDs.

  85. At best he’s worth 4 million, plus a roster minus if he is able to play at least 14 games, then bonuses for makeable targets based on playing time, yards and TDs

  86. Most everyone here is commenting like they are an owner, and yet all of y’all are an employee, and probably over paid.

  87. Heck, I’d rather hand Antonio Brown $4 million than give it to Beckham at this point. OBJ has always been a problem child or injured wherever he landed. Atleast with Brown you know his game by now, you know the guy will sabotage himself eventually. Antonio gets paid, Antonio balls out for a season or two, and then Antonio does something insane like get half naked and run off the field in a cte fueled rage quit. I’ll go with Brown for $4 million Alex, the car crash at the end will be highly entertaining and worth the entrance fee for everyone.

  88. He made over 45 million for 1,900 yds/22 tds over his last 3 seasons. I’ve seen the evidence that he likes expensive stuff. But that doesn’t mean teams are obligated to pay for his lifestyle.

  89. Stay away from this diva at all costs… You have to earn it again O’Dell and try and be appreciative for a change..not a good look whatsoever..

  90. Being a Diva comes full circle when you’ve got two busted up knees. Hope he saved some of his cash.
