The Steelers are making a big addition to their offensive line.

Free agent guard Isaac Seumalo has agreed to a three-year deal with Pittsburgh, according to Jordan Schultz of theScore.com.

Seumalo is the second former Eagles guard the Steelers have signed in free agency. They also signed Nate Herbig, who most recently played for the Jets but played three seasons in Philadelphia when Steelers assistant General Manager Andy Weidl was with the Eagles. Weidl likely played a big role in both former Philadelphia linemen coming to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers still have last year’s two starting guards, Kevin Dotson and James Daniel, but the addition of two guards in free agency makes clear that they think they can upgrade at the position by bringing in competition.

Seumalo is the No. 51 player on our list of the NFL’s Top 100 free agents.

  1. It was a great pickup. And now allows them to concentrate on the defense during the draft. I expect them to take the top defensive back followed by the highest guy on their board who was a d lineman or inside linebacker or another defensive back. We might take back the division this year.

  2. Daniels played very well last yr – he was not an issue at all. RG Dotson was a turnstile who had about a dozen holding calls. He will be depth, or cut Steelers will now look to address CB, or DL at pix 17 & 32, w/ O line depth coming at 2B or later.

  3. The Steelers have so many needs that they will pick the best player available hopefully a stud Left tackle if one of the top 3 are still there

  4. This is a great signing for the Steelers. The only reason the Eagles didn’t re sign him is they don’t have enough salary cap room.

  5. Now if they only had a competent quarterback for him to block for.

As a Bengal fan it must be tough never having won a Super Bowl so it causes you to troll those that have.
    Losers gonna lose.

  6. With the o-line signings so far, they at least admit the o-line was terrible least season. D-line needs freshened up, too. Now, what do with the OC….

Watch your words, Joe Burrow might sue you.

    He owns the NFCN now.

Start acquiring 2035 draft assets now. Maybe Peyton or Eli will have a grandson coming out that year.

Congrats on the Roethlisberger era. Prepare to pay for it.

I’m glad he own the NFCN. As long as it’s not the AFCN.

  10. No, the salary cap is not the only reason the eagles didn’t re-sign him. Seumalo was the weakest link on their line but he’s quite competent. The eagles didn’t bring him back because Kelce came back & they are sliding the guy they drafted to replace him in at guard. Didn’t want their 2nd round pick sitting another year. Seumalo wouldn’t have been resigned one way or the other. Steelers fans will like him, he’s not great, just solid

  11. Do the Steelers realize that there are other positions on the offensive line besides guards? Still some good tackles out there looking for teams. Not sure of their cap situation but Steelers could get an upgrade at tackle at a discount, rather than spending a 1st rounder on it

  12. And more depth in Philly is gone. Paper thin depth chart everywhere. If they get hit with the injury bug it will be a first to worst scenario.

Dude you have ZERO Cap room – you couldn’t of signed him. Kelce is only one more year anyway, if you could of kept him you would of rather than now have to draft one

Even if he’s average, he’s better than what we have now
