University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is a popular pre-draft, top-30 visitor.

He met with the Saints on Tuesday and has a visit scheduled with the Commanders.

He also will visit the Packers and Titans this week, Matt Miller of ESPN reports.

The Titans have Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis on the roster. Tannehill is entering the final year of his contract, and Willis, a third-round pick in 2022, did not perform well last season in limited playing time.

Jordan Love will become the Packers’ starting quarterback as soon as they complete the trade of Aaron Rodgers. Danny Etling, who has not thrown a pass since entering the league in 2018, is the only other quarterback on Green Bay’s roster.

Hooker threw for 6,080 yards and 58 touchdowns with five interceptions the past two seasons. He finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting, with his season ending prematurely to an ACL injury.

He took a few warmup tosses last week at Tennessee’s Pro Day.

  1. Good move by GB. This ensures MN drafts him because if they can’t get GB’s cast-offs, they want to know who they’re interested in in the draft. Kinda like little brother wanting to like the same music as his big brother.

  2. What QB would want GB to draft them? They don’t support their QBs with strong rosters. Both Favre and Rodgers struggled with Ds that couldn’t hold the lead and below avg receiver groups. Might recommend air mailing balls to some open guys Hendon so GB moves on. They don’t know how to build a team around a good QB.

  3. I like Hooker, but incredibly Jordan Love is younger than he is in addition to already knowing the Packer offense. Hooker just doesn’t make much sense for GB, especially given the major needs they have to try to fill on the first two nights of the draft.

  4. IMO, he’ll be a better pro than Anthony Richardson and Levis. He was better when they were actually playing football last fall; also, it is likely he will drop to later in the first round, if not a lower round and likely go to a better team to start with. Always beware of the guys whose stock rises sharply when no games are being played.

  5. Just another negative indictment on Love’s progression. GB would be wise to take another bite at the QB apple this year, since there’s a very real chance Love is no bueno.

  6. The Packers currently don’t have a real, viable backup at the QB position, so I will all but guarantee you they will draft one later this month.
And it won’t mean a damn thing about Jordan Love’s progression.
I feel like I’m talking to amateurs some days. 🤣

So true. Well, except that the Reggie White defenses in GB were among the best ever in the league. And that Favre and Rodgers threw to guys like Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, and Davonte. But other than that, nail on the head.

  8. Ted Thompson was rumored to have REALLY liked Joe Flacco in 2008 with Rodgers about to take over the starting job.

Just doesn’t feel like a vote of confidence for Love though. Can’t say I like this news. But not a huge surprise.

Odds are he’s not drafted until the 2nd round or later meaning the chance he ever actually gets to start for a team is slim to none. I’d take Levis and Richardson who both will be 1st rd picks and at least be given a chance to start at some point during their 1st contract

Gotta respectfully disagree with you Bloodwerk – I’d love to have Hooker too, but we’ve got to go O line at #11.
