Defensive tackle Jalen Carter has limited his pre-draft visits to teams selecting in the top 10 and he’ll check another one of those clubs off his list on Tuesday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Carter will visit with the Falcons. The visit means Carter will have met with the six teams set to pick from 5-10 next week.

The Falcons have the eighth pick and Carter would only have to make a short trip from his college home of Athens, Georgia to join the team, but the feeling around the league appears to be that he’s going to be off the board before that point in the draft.

Oddsmakers have the Seahawks, who pick fifth, as the most likely landing spot and Peter King reported in Football Morning in America that many team officials share that belief. Carter is set to be in Kansas City to find out where he will begin his NFL career.

  1. I’d like to see the Seahawks take Carter at 5. I don’t want the Lions being tempted to take him at 6. I think he’s going to be a huge disappointment in the NFL.

  2. Even if you ignore his racing and running from the scene of a fatal crash, what team would want to blow a first round pick (or even top 3 round pick) on a player that gives on and off effort and is described as aloof to the game? It doesn’t happen often for various reasons but a first round pick is meant to be a franchise pick, a cornerstone piece at that position. You give lazy aloof people a shot at flipping burgers. If he doesn’t work, let him go. He’ll be out of the league in 3 years and whoever decides to draft him will be out of a job.

Hahaha, I’m a Bears fan and I feel the EXACT same way… really hoping he’s not there at 9 and for the exact same reason.

  4. Crazy how all comments say he’s going to be a bust yet all the so called draft experts ( ones who do this for a living ) says he’s a top 5 pick. You guys must have some insider information, truly remarkable

  5. His upside is likely going to put him in the top 5. He is the most likely player to make a big impact on a team next season. Then again, he is also likely to screw up his career at some point.

It’s a comment section on a sports site, I think it’s meant for anyone to give their opinion. You don’t need to have credentials.

  7. Talent is part of it but when you draft a guy Top 10 who isn’t a QB, you expect that guy to take a leadership role on your team, if not from Day 1 then well before the end of his rookie year. I have seen nothing in Jalen Carter that shows me a team would get that from him.

  8. I’m sure an overweight, out of breath Carter will fit right in at Halas with JF1 lifting, traveling to FL to train with a QB coach and grinding it out to get better daily.

I suggest you go back in previous drafts, compare the ‘experts’ pre-draft opinions vs eventual production. The ‘experts’, and even the coaches/GMs make dumb picks. How else do you explain Ryan Leaf, Trubisky, Jalen Reagor (yes, I’m an Eagles fan), and many others?
