Jets wide receiver Corey Davis isn’t going anywhere, coach Robert Saleh said today.

Saleh said today that Davis is and will remain a member of the Jets. That matches what General Manager Joe Douglas said last week, but the signing of wide receiver Randall Cobb renewed questions about the Jets’ numbers at wide receiver.

Davis has a $10.5 million base salary this season and is the most expensive wide receiver on the Jets’ roster, and there has been speculation that the Jets might want to get that salary off their cap. But Saleh insists he isn’t going anywhere.

Last year Davis caught 32 passes for 536 yards and two touchdowns.

It didn’t though. Cobb will mostly just play 3rd downs/limited number of snaps at best. Besides 6 wr being what most nfl teams open the season with on their 53, a quick search showed Jets opened last yr with 6 as well so it shouldve been thought of as likely that Wilson/Lazard/Davis/Hardman/Cobb/Mims open the season but if there is change it’s likely Mims

  3. Anybody imagining Cobb was going to play a major part and have any impact at all is stuck in like 2015.

Mims is a bust and Davis is overpaid and middling at 14 mil per.

Outside of Wilson, there isn’t much there. Hardman has speed, but he doesn’t scare anyone with thew drops. Lazard is good, but not scaring anyone.

NE will use Jack Jones on Wilson, a Safety over the top. Gonzalez will remove Lazard/Davis at the X, and Jon Jones removes Hardman/Cobb.

They’re not as great as the media tries to spin. If they brought in another Wilson, then yeah, they’d be a serious problem.

  5. So if they announce he’s gone/they are cutting him/taking him – he has no value.

If they say they are keeping him, he has greater value when they do trade him

  6. LOL

Joe Douglas squarely on that hotseat.

    *********

    Not as hot as belicheat’s

  7. Cobb is way past his prime he’s in the NFL for one reason only that being Rodgers. For whatever type of relationship they have who knows ? it Cleary is a very strong bond between them.

  8. Actually that is a decision for the defacto GM and primary decision maker of the Jets Aaron to make, similar to signing a few other receivers and an O-lineman.

Most definitely. He’s a lame duck. With double digits in the loss column at the end of the upcoming season, he and Jones will be shown the exit.

  10. He is a nice player, but hasn’t lived up to expectations cause of injuries. The jets could cut him for $600K dead cap.

But we know Rodgers has control over the WRs on the team. Who are they trying to fool?
