Packer-turned-Jet Billy Turner: Cool to see how happy Aaron Rodgers is right now

Jets offensive lineman Billy Turner blocked for Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay for three seasons before the two of them reunited this year in New York, and Turner says Rodgers has never looked happier.

Turner said on Mad Dog Sports Radio that Rodgers’ positive attitude was apparent to everyone at the Jets’ offseason workouts.

“The dude just shows up to work and he’s just so fucking happy right now,” Turner said. “It’s very cool to witness and see because it doesn’t matter how long you’re in this profession, it’s the type of profession where regardless of how long you spend in it, you can always experience something new. And he’s experiencing something new for the first time in his career, and it’s cool to be part of and watch.”

Turner said Rodgers’ happiness with the Jets is definitely a product of his frustrations with the Packers.

“I don’t think the Green Bay Packers realized and understood what he had left in the tank,” Turner said. “He has everything left in the tank.”

  1. Rodgers has been pretty good during (most) regular seasons and completely disappears in the postseason, with one exception twelve years ago. Having a full tank of gas means nothing if you can’t get out of the driveway.

  2. They gave him a massive contract last year to show their commitment and he didn’t bother to attend any minicamps and had his worst season of his career. Now he’s happy because he found another team to hero worship him. Let’s see how happy he is when they finish 7-10.

  3. If Turner is starting at RT Rodgers won’t be happy for long as he will end up injured early in the year. If the Jets are smart they’ll slide Becton to RT which is what he is as he could be dominate in the right side if he can stay healthy . Then start Duane Brown at LT till u can draft, trade for or sign a true LT. That’s the best tackle duo you have n that roster. The Jets most definitely aren’t smart though so don’t expect any of this to actually come to fruition n become reality.

  4. You hear that about literally everyone once they leave GB.

  5. Great comments until reach around Aaron gets in a game and Turner sees first hand he has nothing left.

  6. And remember, 40 is the new 30. And age is just a number.

Aaron is like the aging former hot chick that was desperate to find someone, anyone (Jets) to go home with just before bar time.

  7. The Packers chose him and gave him multi-generational wealth. Packers is one of the classiest organizations in the NFL and they’re always professional (from experience working with the league).

Yet, he wasn’t happy because he thinks he’s above everyone and that the GM and Coaches didn’t do everything he says. It’s so fake with all that talk about being so grateful with everyone in GB and it’ll be so fake years later if he retires as a packers and talk about how good the organization is to him. To hear him being so utterly happy with jets and talk about all the tank in the world is just ridiculous with this guy.

Why does he always want to make people hate him? With all that talent and influence, he could’ve made everything around him better like Bart Starr did. Leave the world a better place man.

Because he saw what Brady did. The move is all about garnering attention to satisfy the ego.

It has to do with playing the victim role for whatever the reason. In Brady’s case, it was because Garoppolo was drafted to scare Brady into playing better in postseasons. It worked, but Brady clearly wasn’t going to let it go. He wanted the power and the last say. With the dealing of Garoppolo, he probably thought he had it. BB stepped in and made sure Kraft knew he was in charge still or he’d be gone himself and Kraft would be stuck with a primadonna at age 40 and beyond. Kraft clearly made the right move for the future, as has GB.

You start coddling a primadonna QB and you’re in a for a wold of hurt overr the long term as it means you’re changing your culture for more selfishness, ego and lack of team play.

Brady left Tampa a sub .500 QB because he played GM and destroyed the franchise for years to come. Tampa will not recover for years and they go no compensation for Brady either.

That’s what NE was trying to avoid if they had kept Brady. They now have tons of cap space and have been drafting well without the bad juju from Brady around Foxborough.

Green Brady will likely get a boost from Rodgers not even being there anymore. It will be like a dark cloud is gone just like when NE moved on from Brady and drafted Mac Jones in 2021.

At least GB robbed the Jets blind and have something to move forward with, while getting out from the awful contract for a guy who can’t even throw for 300 yards anymore and probably won’t consistently ever do it again.

  9. Aaron and the Jets — the world is their oyster. Enjoy the honeymoon everybody!

    Really? Name a few.
And provide real quotes and context, please.
In Minnesota, they actively try to force their way out, see: Stefon Diggs and Z. Smith.

  11. So Rodgers is happy in NY? Why do Packers’ fans even care? You all wanted him out and he’s gone. He may be an ego-driven diva, but hasn’t trashed the organization on his way out — if anything Turner just did.

  12. Who wouldnt have a huge smile on their face when they realize they aew no linger forced to be in green bay. Notice rodgers showing up in tbe spring now?

  13. Who wouldnt have a huge smile on their face when they realize they are no longer forced to live in green bay. Notice rodgers showing up in tbe spring now?

  14. Rodgers will make it to the playoffs in first season as a Jets and probably a deep run into the playoffs, they have a very good defense to help him when he can’t score many points

  15. He’s getting paid and nobody is hitting him or picking off his passes right now. Of course he’s happy. Check back after a couple rough games when the NYC press is all over him and Hackett’s calling plays the way he did last year in Denver. I doubt “happy” will be the word to describe him.

You guys just don’t get it. There’s no animosity toward Rodgers in Green Bay. He gave us 18 years of great, dominant football. We wish him nothing but the best — it’s NOT a divorce. It’s like seeing your kid leave for college! Bittersweet but happy.

Hope he has a great year.

  18. One of my brothers lived & worked in Green Bay for a number of years. It was a similar transformation once he moved to another state.

  19. Well that nails it down . . . finchy’s brother didn’t like Green Bay so it must be terrible. Nothing anecdotal there, it’s pure scientifically researched fact. 🤣
