Zay Flowers believes he “can do it all” in Ravens offense

The Ravens took wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first round of the draft, but his contributions may not be limited to offense.

Flowers took part in the team’s rookie minicamp over the weekend and the team took a look at him as a punt returner during their workouts. Flowers only returned seven punts during his time at Boston College, but head coach John Harbaugh said the team will “absolutely” consider using him in that role during his rookie season.

Even if that doesn’t happen, Flowers thinks that he’ll be able to be a heavy contributor to the team. He said the offense “fits my style perfectly” and that he thinks he can fit any role the team has in mind.

“I feel like I’m a complete receiver. I can do it all,” Flowers said, via the team’s website. “You name it, I’ll be able to do it. I honestly don’t have a preference, because I feel like I can run every route on the outside, and I can run every route on the inside.”

The Ravens have also added Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor to their receiving corps and the moves have sparked hope of a big year to come in the passing game.

  1. This offense will be the best in the NFL assuming everyone is healthy. Lamar now has more weapons then mahomes has ever had
    OBJ
    Bateman
    Flowers
    Duverney
    Andrews
    Likely

    You can’t be serious.

  3. This type of “put ball in guy’s hands and watch him go off” WR is exactly the kind of receiver Jackson needs to take some pressure off of him. Will it work? Who knows. But Jackson could win 2 Super Bowls and there will still be C.H.U.D.s on this site who make simpleton/hackneyed “not bad for a running back!!!1!” comments.

    Best in the NFL?
It won’t even be the best in their division.

  6. Tbe receiving corps is totally built wrong for Lamar and the team. He’s had speedy receivers and can’t get them tbe ball. He needs big targets that work the middle of the field like Andrews. He struggles to throw the ball outside the numbers.

  7. It shouldn’t be a problem for the highest paid NFL player of all time to bring out that potential.

  8. We heard all about a new receiver coming in to Baltimore and transforming the offense back in 2021 when they drafted Bateman. So far, Bateman has had zero impact and probably won’t have an impact in the NFL until he goes to a different team.

  9. Its interesting that Hollywood Brown got out of Baltimore because he had no opportunity as a WR there.

Now, the Ravens go out and sign OBJ, and draft a high rd receiver in Flowers.

Th only thing that has changed is a new OC. It’ll be interesting if these WR will be satisfied with their targets or will the offense change from running to passing.

Jackson, historically averages about 26-30 attempts per game. Where other QB like Burrow or Mahomes are at 40+. Much more opportunities for WR.

  10. The only two things you will need to do well is block without getting a holding call and running a streak on the opposite side of where #8 is going to run.

  11. Ravens had no one to stretch the field last year.
Flowers and Likely are those guys to demand attention over the top.
Lamar is more accurate in the mid range than he gets credit for.
That should make life much better for Andrews and OBJ in short and Redzone areas.

Bateman has missed 50% of his career games OBJ is coming off another Torn ACL and his third career major injury and had a pff grade in the 60s his last season healthy season. Duverney finished last season on IR is more special teamer than WR. Flowers has never played an NFL game. Jackson has done more with less than anyone else so the Ravens will still win but this is still a weaker supporting cast than most of his peers.

Simply not true. Hollywood Brown wanted out because he wanted to be paid like AJ Brown, Dk Metcalf, Deebo Samuel and the rest of the WR class of 2019 despite not being as good as them. Brown was 10th in targets his last season with the Ravens. More than Dk Metcalf, Deebo Samuel, Travis Kelce and Jamar Chase he just had the lowest catch percentage. Historically Jackson averages 30 since his rookie season just like Jalen Hurts while Mahomes and Burrow average about 35. NFL average is 33.

These are the kind of comments that aren’t supported by facts. His last season with the Ravens Hollywood had the 10th highest number of targets in the entire NFL. If that’s not having opportunity as a WR what is?

Also that same year Andrews was above him in targets, 9th in the league. So the Ravens who don’t pass much according to you had two players in the top 10 in terms of targets (i.e., opportunity) in the entire NFL.

  15. Ravens draft a little slot guy in the first round. Uh . No.. Flowers will have little impact. And all the Lamar apologists will be complaining about the WR corps… again..
