Dan Quinn: Micah Parsons isn’t moving to full-time defensive end

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is moving to full-time defensive end. Unless he isn’t.

Parsons has said he’s bulking up in advance of a position change. He might change his position on that, after hearing what Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn had to say.

Via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com, Quinn says Parsons won’t be making the switch to full-time defensive end.

“He’s a pass-rushing linebacker,” Quinn said. “If you ever need position changes, come to me. What I think he was probably trying to say is, ‘I’m really emphasizing some pass rush into my offseason.’”

That’s not what he said. And, typically, what the coach says, goes.

It’s not just semantics. Defensive ends make more than linebackers, especially if the franchise tag is ever in play.

That likely won’t happen with Parsons. He’ll be in line for a new deal after the coming season, and the Cowboys would be wise to give him one — and to pay him like a high-end defensive end.

  1. Why would he? His versatility to rush from anywhere is one of his greatest gifts.

I agree. Let the man flourish at what he excels at.

Because I know what I am talking about? He is way too small to play a 250-260+ lb 4-3 DE. Period. You insecure are amazingly insecure.

I never said he wasn’t good. I am laughing at the idea.

You’re easily the most clueless person I have ever seen on this website. You try so hard to convince people you know something, yet you consistently prove you’re a troll with very little football knowledge outside of screaming BB’s name. Even the fanbase of your own team can’t stand you. Wake up and be better.

  6. Now that I’ve stated my piece about trollboy6, I will say that Dallas should utilize Parsons exactly how they’ve already been doing. He’s very effective in that role. The kid is insanely talented.

  7. Dude is 6’3 246 and is currently bulking up, do you honestly think that’s “too small”? You’re acting like he’s Kyler Murray or something

  8. They’ll either pay him like a DE at contract time or somebody else will. He’s smart for establishing positional value for himself.

If assistant regional manager pays $22 million a year for blue chip employees and assistant TO the regional manager pays $15 then he is doing what he can to maximize his value and earnings. You’d do it, too.

  9. It won’t matter what position he plays, he will come 2nd to Bosa at best anyways and the Cowboys will once again have an early exit in the playoffs. (if they make it)

  10. Parsons is on his way to being a once in a generation talent, he should stay put at linebacker and mix in defensive end when the situation allows for it

  11. His size isn’t a factor..Dude is a monster..VERY effective where ever he lines up..Hassan Reddick is same size and Reddick had 17 sacks. Anyone who knows football and talented players know he is one of best defensive weapons in the league including us REAL Eagles fans. Fun to watch 15 games a yr (lol) hate him twice a year and that’s a compliment
