Seahawks rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba missed most of the 2022 season at Ohio State with a hamstring injury, but he said there are no lingering effects after practicing with the Seahawks’ other rookies at the weekend minicamp.

“I feel great, feel 100 percent, ready to go, happy to be out here competing,” he said.

Smith-Njigba acknowledged that the Seahawks are making a special effort not to let him do too much too soon, but he believes he’s fully healed and will have no problems going forward.

“Yeah, just taking it slow, taking it one step at a time, and getting ready for the next step,” Smith-Njigba said. “They’re just trying to control and make sure everything goes smoothly. They are doing a great job of doing that.”

The Seahawks made Smith-Njigba the first wide receiver off the board when they took him with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. They believe he has a bright future, and he believes he’s going to be healthy enough for a heavy workload.

  1. LOL it better. You sat out all of last season because that. I don’t think hamstrings take 9 months to heal bro.

  2. The Seattle Seahawks haven’t had a 1st round pick make it to a 2nd contract since S Earl Thomas was drafted in the 1st rd in 2010. Maybe Jaxon Smith-Njigba breaks that 13 yr 1st round drafting futility trend.

  3. DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is going to be amazing to see all on the field together. Wish Titans did the same……

  4. Can’t wait for the day a player says he’ll take it 2 days at a time or he’s gonna give 115% (because the opponent’s gonna give 110%). Someone’s gotta break the cliche mold.

  5. The reason the Seahawks didn’t sign any 1st round picks post Earl Thomas was because every first round pick was traded away or in the mid to high 20’s. It’s the price you pay for annual trips to the playoffs. I’d take that any day over the futility of a team owned by Snyder or such.

Before making sarcastic and snarky comments, you might want to Google the list of OSU WR’s (past, present and future) in the NFL. It is WR university.

I am not questioning the talent…Like clockwork, there is always something wrong with them. Always.

Immature, inury prone, inflated self worth for contract demands, etc.

    Michael Thomas says hello.

    Sometimes they take longer. Bro.

  9. WR’s with hammy issues are just a matter of time before they’re in street clothes.
