Tight end Anthony Firkser played his college ball at Harvard and he’s headed back to the Boston area to continue his NFL career.

Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports that the Patriots have agreed to terms with Firkser. No terms of the contract have been reported.

Firkser entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent time with the Jets and Chiefs before signing with the Titans in May 2018. He played four seasons in Tennessee and spent the 2022 campaign with the Falcons.

He had nine catches for 100 yards last season and has 115 catches for 1,207 yards and five touchdowns over his entire career. Hunter Henry, Mike Gesicki, Johnny Lumpkin, Matt Sokol, and Scotty Washington will be his competition for playing time at tight end in New England.

  1. LOL, Belichick still doesn’t realize that the strategy “finding gold among rocks” won’t work, it was Brady who turned those rocks into gold.

  2. Good stats based on actual playing time…. But yeah, probably a camp body to get an up close look at his abilities

  3. People say camp body like it is a bad thing. I would love to get paid to spend my summer playing ball, working out, and meeting some football legends.

  4. Will battle for 3rd TE position. Pats need another inline TE. He will battle Sokol.

It was Belichick who drafted and developed Brady. Let’s not forget Brady couldn’t even beat out Drew Henson for the starting job at Michigan.

The Patriots love signing below average tight ends.

Yeah, Gronk and Bennett sucked huh?

    ++++++++

What makes you think Belichick the garbage was better than a 6th round on offense in 2001?

After 19 years with Brady, he doesn’t even know more about offense than Matt Patricia does!!! otherwise he would be the one who handled offense last season? What you think he purposely failed the offense so to hire BOB?

I respect your posts, but NE has only 1 inline TE which is an UDFA, unless you want to count Sokol.

The rest are all move TEs at 230 lbs. O’Brien likes move TEs.

I’d prefer a FB, one pure inline TE (maybe Sokol can do it) and 2 move TEs, but that is just me.

Henry is currently being asked to be the 2 way TE but he’s reallya move TE.

How did Bennet do under Rodgers?

Gronk was injured half of the time and was super slow. The reason Pats lost in 2nd SB against Giants was because he was injured in AFCCG.

Without Gronk, Brady is Andy Dalton. Just look at 2019 and 2022 seasons.

  11. And the 3rd string job goes to……..th best blocker left after Henry and Gesicki. Catch ability is secondary at that point.
