Lewis Cine: I feel like I’m a better player, person having gone through injury rehab

Vikings safety Lewis Cine‘s took another step forward on the path back to the playing field this week.

Cine is working with the team at their OTAs as he continues to recover from the compound fracture of his leg that he suffered in Week Four last season. The 2022 first-round pick missed the rest of the year, but says he’s “been going like everyone else” in the offseason program and that he believes he will benefit in the long run from having to fight his way back from such a serious injury.

“I feel like as a player and as a person I’m better for it,” Cine said, via Dane Mizutani of the Pioneer Press.

The Vikings defense underwhelmed last season, which led to the hiring of Brian Flores as their new defensive coordinator. It’s unclear exactly how Cine will be used in Flores’ defense, but having him healthy and able to contribute should help the team’s bid for a better showing on that side of the ball.

  1. He should really feel better cause its likely that he now has a D coordinator that will know how to use him properly.

  2. Last year teams just killed us with short passing plays crossing over the middle. It was too soon for the pass rush to get there, and we played off the receivers far too much to knock the ball down or for it to be intercepted. I don’t know if we played that way because we were told to, or if that’s the best the players we had could do. So they changed both. There’s a new play caller and quite a few new faces. It looks like they’re addressing both ends of the problem. I hope you play well Lewis, we need you to.

  3. There is an exact correlation between (a) how often a Packer fan posts in a Viking thread and (b) the depth of their worry.

  4. Lewis Cine really needs to pan out for Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after making the bold move in last year’s draft to pass on Kyle Hamilton at 12 overall, instead choosing to trade all the way back to 32 with a division rival Lions allowing them to draft Jameson Williams. Jameson had 1 catch last year for 41 yds and a TD…against the Vikings. Kyle Hamilton would have played beside and eventually replaced fellow Golden Domer S Harrison Smith.

    All time Vikings draft bust.
    __________

    No, not exactly.
Though Cine has been a major disappointment so far, he’s far from the Viking’s biggest bust.

In 1999, Viking’s 1st round draft pick, Dimitrius Underwood, realized in a hurry that Minnesota wasn’t for him when he quit after his first practice, a day after signing his multimillion dollar contract.
Now that’s an averse reaction. 🤣

  6. Looking forward to see what new d coordinator flores can do with cine
